TL;DR: A content analysis examined the Twitter sites of 488 local television stations in the United States, based on a strategic and tactical model of media promotion, and found that news stories were the most frequently occurring items on the sites.
Abstract: A content analysis examined the Twitter sites of 488 local television stations in the United States, based on a strategic and tactical model of media promotion. One finding of the study was that news stories were the most frequently occurring items on the sites. However, stations that offered news items also seldom promoted their regular newscasts. Overall, stations did not appear to use Twitter to direct viewers to the station's on-air programming.

TL;DR: More than half of the respondents in a national random sample own some type of MP3 player as mentioned in this paper, with the main reasons for using them being boredom, stimulation, entertainment, relaxation/escape, and loneliness.
Abstract: Ownership of MP3 players, such as Apple's iPod, continues to grow at a steady pace in the US. College students are one age group that is active in the adoption of these devices. Based on a uses and gratifications framework, this study examined how college students are using this technology as compared to radio listening. Results showed that more than half of the respondents in a national random sample own some type of MP3 player. Motivations for using the players included boredom, stimulation, entertainment, relaxation/escape, and loneliness. An important finding was that the use of MP3 players appears to be serving as a substitute for listening to traditional radio for this age group. This manuscript was submitted to editor-elect Michael Brown, who supervised the blind review and made all editorial decisions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the way radio stations in the U.S. use Twitter and found that there was only a weak correlation between stations' average quarter hour share and the number of followers of stations' Twitter sites.
Abstract: Using a content analysis method, this study examined the way in which 111 radio stations in the U.S. are using the social network system, Twitter. Results of the study revealed that there was only a weak correlation between stations' average quarter hour share and the number of followers of stations' Twitter sites. Also, music stations had more promotional tweets, while news stations provided more news items for their audiences.

TL;DR: An exploratory study examined whether the iPad was replacing traditional TV viewing, and showed that, rather than displacing time with TV, the amount of TV viewing on an iPad was positively related to theamount of time watching traditional TV.
Abstract: Over the past 3 years, tablet computers have become increasingly popular devices. In particular, Apple’s iPad and its accompanying apps have taken the tablet market by storm. The technology enables users to accomplish a variety of tasks, including viewing television (TV) programs and other video sources on the device. Based on media uses and gratifications, an exploratory study examined whether the iPad was replacing traditional TV viewing. Results showed that, rather than displacing time with TV, the amount of TV viewing on an iPad was positively related to the amount of time watching traditional TV.

TL;DR: Dollimore as discussed by the authors argues that critical theorists should strive to understand the contradictions within our lives and our literature and explore the daemonic power of the subjects that offend our sense of tradition.
Abstract: but the threat they bring to artistic culture. From his opening mockery of the literary establishment’s tendency to theorize the world in terms of desire or gender to his disapproval of those who venerate art while denying its validity in the same breath, Jonathan Dollimore has created an easily understood, albeit at times too theoretical, synthesis of the literary and the experiential in Sex, Literature and Censorship. His arguments on critical theory do not necessarily reject the concept of theory; rather, he argues that critical theorists should strive to understand the contradictions within our lives and our literature and explore the daemonic power of the subjects that offend our sense of tradition.
