Evidence for interaction between PPARG Pro12Ala and PPARGC1A Gly482Ser polymorphisms in determining type 2 diabetes intermediate phenotypes in overweight subjects.

TL;DR: Results showed that PPARG Pro12Ala and PPARGC1A Gly482Ser variants are associated, alone and in interaction, with insulin and glucose homeostasis and suggest that gene-gene interactions should be taken into account in candidate gene studies of T2DM to identify subjects with markedly different risks of developing the disease.
Book

Molecular and Cellular Regulation of Adaptation to Exercise

TL;DR: Molecular Aspects of Exercise Biology and Exercise Genomics, the latest volume in the Progress in Molecular Biology and Translational Science series includes a comprehensive summary of the evidence accumulated thus far on the molecular and cellular regulation of the various adaptations taking place in response to exercise.
Journal Article

The genetics of human obesity: recent progress.

TL;DR: At this time, more than fifty genes have been shown in various studies to influence the energy balance, nutrient partitioning, or the age of onset of obesity, but the results are generally disappointing and often contradictory.
Journal ArticleDOI

Skeletal age and submaximal working capacity in boys.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the skeletal age (SA) and heart rate at a heart rate of 130 (V˙o130) during work on a bicycle ergometer in 237 boys 8-18 years of age.
