Abstract: Background A 64-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) is well known to be a useful noninvasive form of angiography for the general population, but not for certain patients with diabetes. The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic accuracy and usefulness of 64-slice MDCT coronary angiography for detecting coronary artery disease in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Abstract: Primary liposarcoma of the lung is an extremely rare disease. To date, only 14 cases have been reported in the literature. We experienced a case of myxoid liposarcoma of the lung treated by surgery. The tumor was well-defined, solid, lobulated mass measuring 3.5×2 cm, involving the bronchus of the left lower lobe. Microscopically, myxoid liposarcoma was identified. The fluorescence in situ hybridization confirmed the presence of a reciprocal translocation involving DNA damage-inducible transcript 3 (DDIT3) and fused in sarcoma (FUS) genes. The patient is still alive with no recurrence or metastasis at the time of writing this report (on 20 months postoperatively). To our knowledge, this is the first cytogenetic case report of pulmonary myxoid liposarcoma.

Abstract: Chordoma is a rare malignant bone tumor originating from the embryonic notochord. Herein, we present a case of thoracic chordoma located at T3-T5 that was misdiagnosed as primary mediastinal adenocarcinoma. The patient underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiation and the disease showed little response. Due to vertebral body invasion, we performed en bloc mass removal and partial corpectomy (T4-5) in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons.

Abstract: Stenotic or hypoplastic coronary arteries occupy vital features in the clinical situations. The pseudohypoplasia might be defined as a macroscopic hypoplasia based on the diameter of an artery compared with contralateral artery but is not hypoplasia both anatomically and histopathologically. During a routine dissection course, a pseudohypoplasia in right coronary artery was recognized in an 82-year-old Korean female cadaver who had a common mesenteric trunk and a fibromuscular dysplasia in the left vertebral artery. Although macroscopic hypoplasia was discovered, the right coronary artery had normal anatomical features and the left coronary artery showed atherosclerotic changes on the main trunk. The right coronary artery was misread to have hypoplasia due to atherosclerotic aneurysm on left coronary artery. Since macroscopic hypoplasia in radiological and surgical situations may lead to confusion to interpret its pathophysiology just like this case, the better anatomical knowledge on the coronary artery can help to prevent misleading approaches.
