TL;DR: A number of tests carried out on small-size three-phase asynchronous motors highlight the excellent promptness in detecting faults, low false alarm rate, and very good diagnostic performance.
Abstract: A DSP-based measurement system dedicated to the vibration analysis on rotating machines was designed and realized. Vibration signals are on-line acquired and processed to obtain a continuous monitoring of the machine status. In case of a fault, the system is capable of isolating the fault with a high reliability. The paper describes in detail the approach followed to built up fault and non-fault models together with the chosen hardware and software solutions. A number of tests carried out on small-size three-phase asynchronous motors highlight the excellent promptness in detecting faults, low false alarm rate, and very good diagnostic performance.

TL;DR: An automatic system for the measurement of carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) that is based on the digital processing of ultrasound images and an analytical approach is used to estimate the intrinsic accuracy of the system.
Abstract: This paper presents an automatic system for the measurement of carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) that is based on the digital processing of ultrasound images. The measurement technique is described in detail, highlighting the advantages compared to other methods and, reporting some experimental results. Finally, an analytical approach is used to estimate the intrinsic accuracy of the system.

TL;DR: The hybrid solution, based on artificial neural networks (ANNs), and the production rule adopted in the realization of an instrument fault detection, isolation, and accommodation scheme for automotive applications are described.
Abstract: This paper describes the hybrid solution, based on artificial neural networks (ANNs), and the production rule adopted in the realization of an instrument fault detection, isolation, and accommodation scheme for automotive applications. Details on ANN architectures and training are given together with diagnostic and dynamic performance of the scheme.

TL;DR: The problem of uncertainty analysis in digital signal processing algorithms is discussed, proposing a method based on a 'white box' approach that has a practical application to some common algorithms for measurements on periodic signals.
Abstract: The problem of uncertainty analysis in digital signal processing algorithms is discussed, proposing a method based on a 'white box' approach. A theoretical uncertainty estimation is carried out first; its results are then confirmed by both simulation and experimental tests. The characteristics of the method are highlighted by means of a practical application to some common algorithms for measurements on periodic signals.

TL;DR: Comprehensive and up-to-date, this book includes essential topics that either reflect practical significance or are of theoretical importance and describes numerous important application areas such as image based rendering and digital libraries.
Abstract: From the Publisher: The accessible presentation of this book gives both a general view of the entire computer vision enterprise and also offers sufficient detail to be able to build useful applications. Users learn techniques that have proven to be useful by first-hand experience and a wide range of mathematical methods. A CD-ROM with every copy of the text contains source code for programming practice, color images, and illustrative movies. Comprehensive and up-to-date, this book includes essential topics that either reflect practical significance or are of theoretical importance. Topics are discussed in substantial and increasing depth. Application surveys describe numerous important application areas such as image based rendering and digital libraries. Many important algorithms broken down and illustrated in pseudo code. Appropriate for use by engineers as a comprehensive reference to the computer vision enterprise.

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive review of various stator faults, their causes, detection parameters/techniques, and latest trends in the condition monitoring technology is presented. And a broad perspective on the status of stator fault monitoring to researchers and application engineers using induction motors is provided.
Abstract: Condition monitoring of induction motors is a fast emerging technology for online detection of incipient faults. It avoids unexpected failure of a critical system. Approximately 30-40% of faults of induction motors are stator faults. This work presents a comprehensive review of various stator faults, their causes, detection parameters/techniques, and latest trends in the condition monitoring technology. It is aimed at providing a broad perspective on the status of stator fault monitoring to researchers and application engineers using induction motors. A list of 183 research publications on the subject is appended for quick reference.
