TL;DR: In this article , the physicochemical properties of glycerol were investigated using X-ray diffraction and N2 sorption using Nb2O5-SBA-15 catalysts.
Abstract: investigatedusing X-ray diffraction and N2 sorption. The acidic properties were investigated by the ex-situ FT-IR spectroscopy of pyridine adsorption and temperature programmed desorption (TPD) of ammonia. The dehydration reaction of glycerol was studied in the gas phase at temperature 320 ºC. Among several catalysts examined the niobium-supported SBA-15 catalyst with 30 wt.% of Nb2O5-SBA-15 exhibited higher activity of glycerol conversion (85%) and selectivity of acrolein (60%).
