MIPSGAL: A Survey of the Inner Galactic Plane at 24 and 70 μm
Sean Carey,Alberto Noriega-Crespo,D. R. Mizuno,S. Shenoy,Roberta Paladini,Kathleen Kraemer,S. D. Price,Nicolas Flagey,E. L. Ryan,E. L. Ryan,J. Ingalls,T. A. Kuchar,Daniela Pinheiro Gonçalves,Remy Indebetouw,Nicolas Billot,Francine R. Marleau,Deborah Padgett,Luisa Rebull,Eli Bressert,Babar Ali,Sergio Molinari,Peter G. Martin,G. B. Berriman,F. Boulanger,William B. Latter,Marc-Antoine Miville-Deschenes,R. F. Shipman,Leonardo Testi +27 more
TL;DR: MIPSGAL as discussed by the authors is a 278 deg^2 survey of the inner Galactic plane using the Multiband Infrared Photometer for Spitzer aboard the Spitzer Space Telescope.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solar Mass Ejection Imager (SMEI) observations of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) in the heliosphere
David F. Webb,D. R. Mizuno,Andrew Buffington,M. P. Cooke,C. J. Eyles,Craig D. Fry,L. C. Gentile,P. P. Hick,P. E. Holladay,Timothy A. Howard,J. G. Hewitt,Bernard V. Jackson,J. C. Johnston,T. A. Kuchar,J. B. Mozer,Stephan D. Price,Richard R. Radick,G. M. Simnett,S. J. Tappin +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present statistical results of analysis of the SMEI observations of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) traveling through the inner heliosphere; 139 CMEs were observed during the first 1.5 years of operations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Processing for the MIPSGAL 24 μm Survey of the Inner Galactic Plane
D. R. Mizuno,Sean Carey,Alberto Noriega-Crespo,R. Paladini,Deborah Padgett,S. Shenoy,T. A. Kuchar,Kathleen Kraemer,S. D. Price +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe improvements to the data processing pipeline for the Spitzer MIPSGAL survey of the Galactic plane, which involve both improvements to processing of the 24 μm data, in particular the handling of saturations and near-saturated data, and mitigation of various artifacts not corrected in the basic calibration pipeline.
Journal ArticleDOI
Studying geoeffective interplanetary coronal mass ejections between the Sun and Earth: Space weather implications of Solar Mass Ejection Imager observations
David F. Webb,David F. Webb,Timothy A. Howard,Craig D. Fry,T. A. Kuchar,T. A. Kuchar,D. R. Mizuno,D. R. Mizuno,J. C. Johnston,Bernard V. Jackson +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors summarize several studies of SMEI's detection and tracking capability, especially of the ICMEs associated with the intense (peak Dst ≤ −100 nT) geomagnetic storms that were the focus of the NASA Living With a Star Geostorm Coordinated Data Analysis Workshop.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coronal mass ejection kinematics deduced from white light (Solar Mass Ejection Imager) and radio (Wind/WAVES) observations
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the plane-of-sky white light observations from both the SMEI all-sky camera on board the Coriolis spacecraft and the SOHO/LASCO coronagraph, as well as the frequency drift rate of low-frequency radio data and the results of the radio direction-finding analysis from the WAVES experiment on the Wind spacecraft.
