Comparison of annual maximum series and partial duration series methods for modeling extreme hydrologic events: 1. At-site modeling

TL;DR: In this paper, two different models for analyzing extreme hydrologic events, based on, respectively, partial duration series (PDS) and annual maximum series (AMS), are compared in terms of the uncertainty of the T-year event estimator.
Journal ArticleDOI

Generalized likelihood uncertainty estimation (GLUE) using adaptive Markov Chain Monte Carlo sampling

TL;DR: This paper improves the computational efficiency of GLUE by sampling the prior parameter space using an adaptive Markov Chain Monte Carlo scheme (the Shuffled Complex Evolution Metropolis (SCEM-UA) algorithm) and proposes an alternative strategy to determine the value of the cutoff threshold based on the appropriate coverage of the resulting uncertainty bounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Uncertainty assessment of integrated distributed hydrological models using GLUE with Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive framework for multi-criteria calibration and uncertainty assessment of distributed physically-based, integrated hydrological models is developed, through an application, for multiscale validation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Choice of reliability, resilience and vulnerability estimators for risk assessments of water resources systems

TL;DR: A behaviour analysis addressing monotonic behaviour, overlap and correlation between the estimators of water resources system reliability, resilience and vulnerability was carried out by routing time series of monthly runoff through a reservoir with a specified storage volume.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prediction in partial duration series with generalized pareto‐distributed exceedances

TL;DR: In this article, the generalized Pareto distribution has been adopted for estimating the T-year event in partial duration series and it is shown that the method of moments is preferable to the probability-weighted moments.
