Journal ArticleDOI

Antimicrobial peptides from marine invertebrates as a new frontier for microbial infection control

TL;DR: A promising novel use of antimicrobial peptides as effective drugs in human and veterinary medicine could be based on their unusual properties and synergic counterparts as immune response humoral effectors, in addition to their direct microbicidal activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

The use of versatile plant antimicrobial peptides in agribusiness and human health.

TL;DR: This review will focus on the relevance of the structural-function relations of AMPs derived from plants and their proper use in applications for human health and agribusiness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Cysteine and Tryptophan Substitution on DNA-Binding Activity on Maize α-Hairpinin Antimicrobial Peptide

TL;DR: Molecular modelling showed that the lack of cysteines resulted in structure destabilization and lack of tryptophan resulted in a less flexible peptide, with less solvent assessable surface area, both characteristics that could contribute to absence of activity.
