Proteome profiling in cerebrospinal fluid reveals novel biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease
Jakob M. Bader,Philipp E. Geyer,Philipp E. Geyer,Johannes Müller,Maximilian T. Strauss,Manja Koch,Frank Leypoldt,Peter Koertvelyessy,Peter Koertvelyessy,Daniel Bittner,Carola G. Schipke,Enise I. Incesoy,Oliver Peters,Oliver Peters,Nikolaus Deigendesch,Mikael Simons,Majken K. Jensen,Majken K. Jensen,Henrik Zetterberg,Matthias Mann,Matthias Mann +20 more
TL;DR: A highly reproducible mass spectrometry (MS)‐based proteomics workflow for the in‐depth analysis of CSF from minimal sample amounts is presented and a consistent glycolytic signature across cohorts and a recent study suggests clinical utility of this proteomic signature.
Journal ArticleDOI
Subjective memory complaints: objective neural markers in patients with Alzheimer's disease and major depressive disorder.
TL;DR: Subjective memory complaints may be classified objectively and very early with functional magnetic resonance imaging of episodic memory in groups of patients with Alzheimer's disease and depressive syndrome, but further studies will be needed to establish the differential diagnosis for the individual patient.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cortical thinning and its relation to cognition in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Christina Schuster,Elisabeth Kasper,Martin Dyrba,Judith Machts,Daniel Bittner,Jörn Kaufmann,Alex J. Mitchell,Reiner Benecke,Stefan J. Teipel,Stefan J. Teipel,Stefan Vielhaber,Stefan Vielhaber,Johannes Prudlo,Johannes Prudlo +13 more
TL;DR: The cognitive status of ALS subjects is associated with different patterns of cortical atrophy, and cognitively impaired ALS patients showed cortical thinning in regions largely overlapping with those found in ALS-FTD, but changes were less widespread.
Journal ArticleDOI
Focal thinning of the motor cortex mirrors clinical features of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and their phenotypes: a neuroimaging study
Christina Schuster,Elisabeth Kasper,Judith Machts,Daniel Bittner,Jörn Kaufmann,Reiner Benecke,Stefan J. Teipel,Stefan J. Teipel,Stefan Vielhaber,Stefan Vielhaber,Johannes Prudlo,Johannes Prudlo +11 more
TL;DR: According to the analysis, dominant UMN patients demonstrated the most distinct thinning followed by classical ALS patients, and the bulbar subscore of the ALSFRS-R correlated with thinning of the left inferior PMC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Screening for cognitive impairment: a triage for outpatient care.
TL;DR: A composite of screening tests suitable for application in general outpatient care in neurological and psychiatric services reliably detects patients with Alzheimer’s disease and MCI.
