La Educomunicacion puede entenderse como una disciplina que abarca el estudio de dos areas de conocimiento que tradicionalmente han estado bien diferenciadas, la Educacion y la Comunicacion, pero que se complementan de manera intrinseca e inevitable porque para educar hay que comunicar y cuando comunicamos, podemos estar educando. La radio universitaria surge como instrumento de formacion del alumnado de los centros de ensenanza superior pero tambien de aproximacion a la sociedad que le rodea. En este contexto, este medio de comunicacion cercano y accesible para el oyente y, mas concretamente, este tipo de emisora puede resultar adecuado para la educomunicacion, tanto de sus estudiantes como de otros colectivos de su entorno. Este articulo pretende, a traves de la revision bibliografica sobre el tema, recopilar, en un unico documento, argumentos esgrimidos por teoricos y estudiosos para relacionar educacion y comunicacion y para considerar a la radio universitaria un lugar idoneo para trabajarlas de manera conjunta.

Iniciación a los fundamentos teóricos para la educomunicación en la radio universitaria

This paper studies the social structure of Spanish and Latin American communication researchers through the representation and analysis of three coauthorship networks at the national, institutional, and individual level. Such networks are built from papers indexed in the 'Communication' category by Web of Science and published between 2000 and 2019 by authors attached to a Spanish or Latin American institution (n = 5,040). The goal is to characterize the structural features of each network, identify the most central actors, and illustrate the most relevant relationships among nodes. The results show that the most central country is Spain, followed by the USA and other European nations. Among the Latin American states, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico are placed at the most relevant nodes. Latin American collaboration is preferentially addressed to the USA, especially since 2015. Regarding institutions, Spanish public universities in Madrid and Catalonia achieve the highest degrees of centrality. However, the most central Latin American institutions are private universities. The most relevant authors are Spanish researchers until 2015, when they are replaced at the top by Latin American scholars. Collaboration at both the individual and institutional levels shows a deep regional tendency, while the internationalization of researchers and universities is only more visible since 2015. This work identifies a tendency towards internal cohesion at different network levels as the number of connected nodes grows in each period. We conclude that a proper Spanish-Latin America community of communication researchers does not exist.

Redes de coautorías de la investigación española y latinoamericana en Comunicación (2000-2019): cohesión interna y aislamiento transcontinental

This research explores the use of Facebook as a corporate communications channel of Peruvian universities. The study aims to find out which communication elements generate the greatest interaction. To this end, content analysis is carried out, which allows to detect communicative actions, formats, themes and emotional links that lead to greater participation of audiences in this social network. This methodology is complemented by a qualitative analysis of the most relevant posts. Results show that content valued most by the public seeks to educate and inspire with the results of research and scientific innovation and through audiovisual formats, appealing to a sense of pride of the community.

In March of 1925, a month after its debut issue, the New Yorker published its first cartoon about radio. Eldon Kelley’s drawing shows an attractive woman in a wispy thin negligee reclining on a divan. She stylishly displays a long cigarette holder crimped between two fingers. On the wall behind her are pictures of three of her paramours. As were many other Americans of the time— sophisticated and uncouth alike—she is listening to the radio. Her ear is turned toward a large, S-shaped cone speaker that likely emits a tinny sound. At the time this cartoon appeared, more than ten percent of American households had acquired radio receivers, and the radio audience was growing like nothing anyone had ever seen.1 What sort of radio program might a reclining damsel listen to? Not “Amos ‘n’ Andy,” “The Shadow,” or “Fibber McGee and Molly.” The Golden Age of radio programs had yet to arrive. Orchestra music was common radio fare in the twenties, as were lectures on literature and home economics. There was also jazz, the risqué music that offended the sensibilities of America’s moral leaders and yet enthralled the masses. But, no, the woman is having none of those because Kelley’s cartoon is not intended to be merely descriptive or typical. Rather, it is engaging in ironic observation. Kelley, along with dozens of other New Yorker writers and illustrators who teamed up to create the cartoons that became the signature element of the magazine, was wryly commenting on the audacious new communication technology that had captured the attention of the American public. This sort of commentary was tricky business, as the New Yorker’s founding editor Harold Ross knew. Polemics had their place, but his new magazine was to woo its audience with wit, irony, and humor. With this in mind, then, Kelley reached for contradiction rather than correspondence. As the cartoon’s caption reveals, the woman has tuned to a program that does not fit her age, character, or station in life. The Missing Signifier: Re-presenting Radio Broadcasting in New Yorker Cartoons, 1925-1945

This work provides an overview of the research on scientific production on radio during the period 2000-2016. For the analysis, the production contained in the magazines belonging to the category of Film , Radio , Television in the Web of Science was used. A total of 318 publications are extracted and data have been calculated such as number of documents per year, countries of affiliation of the authors, thematic categories related to the category selected as object of study, the sources in which the works are disseminated, the language of publication, documentary typology and average number of citations per document. The results of the study show that there is a stable trend throughout the period, publishing articles where about 45% of the authors are affiliated with a US institution and in most disciplines more than 60% of the publications are in English.

College radio is subject to constant transformation. The rise of information and communications technologies has allowed its development and modernization as well as the proliferation of new professional profiles. This research aims to analyze the connection of the Spanish university stations with the relevant qualifications. To do this, we use a comparative methodology based on examination of descriptors and specific principal subjects of degrees such as Audiovisual Communication and Journalism, although we will be using other degrees that are acquiring more responsibilities in a radio station, such as the degree in Information and Documentation. In conclusion, structural weaknesses in the university environment are observed, but future possibilities are detected as well: A college radio station is a place of convergence between the training of students from different degrees and reality itself, a versatile medium that provides the relevance of being the first professional contact of college students with the labor market.

La radio universitaria en España: comunicación alternativa de servicio público para la formación

El presente articulo pretende ser una aproximacion a la programacion y a los contenidos de las radios universitarias espanolas. El objetivo es analizar en detalle la tipologia generica, la estructura, y la finalidad programatica, asi como los tipos de pausas publicitarias y los proyectos de responsabilidad social que proponen las 23 radios universitarias pertenecientes a la Asociacion de Radios Universitarias de Espana (ARU). Para ello se han realizado entrevistas personales con los directores de las mismas. Las principales conclusiones alcanzadas advierten claras diferencias entre las programaciones propuestas por las radios universitarias y las realizadas por las emisoras convencionales, reflejando claramente una apuesta por lo alternativo en las emisoras academicas.
