In vitro antioxidant and in vivo photoprotective effects of a lyophilized extract of Capparis spinosa L buds.
Francesco Bonina,Carmelo Puglia,Dario Ventura,Rita Patrizia Aquino,S Tortora,Antonia Sacchi,Antonella Saija,Antonio Tomaino,Maria Luisa Pellegrino,P de Caprariis +9 more
TL;DR: From the results obtained in in vitro and in vivo tests, LECS showed a significant antioxidant effect and some flavonols (kaempferol and quercetin derivatives) and hydroxycinnamic acids (caffeic acid, ferulic acid, p-cumaric Acid, and cinnamic acid).
Journal ArticleDOI
Antioxidant and photoprotective activity of a crude extract of Culcitium reflexum H.B.K. leaves and their major flavonoids.
Rita Patrizia Aquino,Silvana Morelli,Antonio Tomaino,Marialuisa Pellegrino,Antonella Saija,Lucia Grumetto,Carmelo Puglia,Dario Ventura,Francesco Bonina +8 more
TL;DR: A gel formulation containing this extract proved, when topically applied, to afford a significant in vivo protection against UV-B-induced skin erythema in healthy human volunteers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical analysis and photoprotective effect of an extract of wine from Jacquez grapes
Giovanni Spagna,Antonio Tomaino,Francesco Cimino,Riccardo N. Barbagallo,Dario Ventura,Francesco Bonina,Antonella Saija +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the in vitro antioxidant activity and in vivo photoprotective activity of an extract of wine obtained from Jacquez (Vitis aestivalis-cinerea)×V vinifera) grapes (JW-E) were evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
1-ethyl and 1-propylazacycloalkan-2-one ester prodrugs of ketoprofen. Synthesis, chemical stability, enzymatic hydrolysis, anti-inflammatory activity, and gastrointestinal toxicity.
Francesco Bonina,Carmelo Puglia,Dario Ventura,N. A. Santagati,Antonella Saija,Domenico Trombetta +5 more
TL;DR: Six ketoprofen (CAS 22071-15-4) alkylazacycloalkan-2-one ester derivatives (I-VI) were synthesized and evaluated for their anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and ulcerogenic activities after oral administration and showed good stability both in pH 7.4 phosphate buffer and in pH 2.0 buffer.
