Resistance to Flow in Alluvial Channels

TL;DR: In this paper, the initial results of flume study of alluvial channels are presented, detailed classification of regimes of flow, forms of bed roughness, and basic concepts pertaining to resistance to flow; description of experimental equipment and procedure; criteria for washout of dunes and for decrease of resistance to water flow; hysteresis observed at changes in dune bed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Applicability of kinematic and diffusion models.

TL;DR: In this paper, the applicability of the kinematic and diffusion models of open channel flow is assessed by comparing the propagation characteristics of sinusoidal perturbations to the steady uniform flow for the Kinematic, diffusion and dynamic models (the dynamic model is that based on the complete Saint Venant equations).
