TL;DR: In this paper, a temperature climate control system comprises a variable temperature seat (10), at least one heat pump (26 and 28), one heat sensor (54 and 56), and a controller (64), each heat pump comprises a number of Peltier thermoelectric modules for temperature conditioning the air in a main heat exchanger (34 and 36) and a main exchanger fan (42 and 44).
Abstract: A temperature climate control system comprises a variable temperature seat (10), at least one heat pump (26 and 28), at least one heat pump temperature sensor (54 and 56), and a controller (64). Each heat pump comprises a number of Peltier thermoelectric modules for temperature conditioning the air in a main heat exchanger (34 and 36) and a main exchanger fan (42 and 44) for passing the conditioned air from the main exchanger to the variable temperature seat. The Peltier modules and each main fan may be manually adjusted via a temperature switch (60) and a fan switch (58), respectively. Additionally, the temperature climate control system may comprise a number of additional temperature sensors (102 and 104) to monitor the temperature of the ambient air surrounding the occupant as well as the temperature of the conditioned air directed to the occupant.

TL;DR: In this paper, a reclining construction with a plurality of plenums (14, 16 and 17) formed in the foam (30) of the seat cushion is described, and the air then migrates through a reticulated foam layer (40) that is itself covered with an air permeable layer of material (42).
Abstract: A seating construction (10) with a plurality of plenums (14) and (20) into which is received temperature conditioned air (5). The air passes through the seat via a plurality of channels (14, 16 and 17) formed in the foam (30) of the seat cushion. The air then migrates through a reticulated foam layer (40) that is itself covered with an air permeable layer of material (42). The reticulated foam (40) and stitching of the seat fabric (42) facilitate diffusion of the air from the foam channel conduits (14, 16 and 17). The air then convectively circulates against and near the occupant of the seat to facilitate climate control around the occupant.

TL;DR: In this paper, a combination air sampling cassette and a nutrient media dish having base, orifice plate, and nutrient media assembly for the collection of airborne particles is presented, where a cover fits over the assembly to protect the culture media prior to and after sampling.
Abstract: A combination air sampling cassette and nutrient media dish having base, orifice plate, and nutrient media dish assembly for the collection of airborne particles. The orifice plate includes a plurality of holes that brings the nutrient media dish into fluid communication with the ambient air. A pump is connected to the air outlet in the base to pull air into the orifice plate through the holes, over the culture media, and out through the air outlet. As the air passes through the holes in the orifice plate it is accelerated and results in the selected impaction of particles in the culture media. A cover fits over the assembly to protect the culture media prior to and after sampling.

TL;DR: In this article, a heat transfer system (48) comprises at least one thermoelectric module (50) consisting of at least two thermally conductive heat transfer elements (60) interposed between a pair of surface portions (54).
Abstract: A heat transfer system (48) comprises at least one thermoelectric module (50) that includes at least one thermoelectric element (52) interposed between a pair of thermally conductive surface portions (54). Thermally conductive heat transfer elements (60) are in contact with a respective surface portion (54) to provide conductive heat transfer. The heat transfer elements (60) may be integral or independent with one another and are stress relieved to accommodate the different thermal expansion rate of the surface portions (54) and, consequently increase thermoelectric module life. Contact between the heat transfer elements (60) and each respective surface portion (54) is maintained by a flexible thermally conductive bonding material or by solder connection or by an outer structure (68). Compressible sheets (64) are disposed over outer facing portions of the heat transfer elements (60) and the outer structure (68) is placed over the sheets to impose a compressive force onto the sheets. A thermally conductive material (62) is interposed between the heat transfer elements (60) and the surface portion (54) to promote thermal conductivity therebetween.

TL;DR: In this article, a system for thermally conditioning and pumping a fluid is described, which consists of a thermoelectric heat exchanger having a temperature-sensitive device configured to pump heat.
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for thermally conditioning and pumping a fluid. The system includes a thermoelectric heat exchanger having a thermoelectric device configured to pump heat. Heat exchangers are provided for transferring heat to and from the thermoelectric device and for generating a fluid flow across the thermoelectric device. The conditioned fluid may be placed in thermal communication with a variety of objects, such as a vehicle seat, or anywhere localized heating and cooling are desired. Thermal isolation may also be provided in the direction of flow to enhance efficiency.

TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus and method of perforating the cover layer or soft skin of an automotive trim panel such as an instrument panel with a laser to allow light to bleed through the perforations is presented.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method of perforating the cover layer or soft skin of an automotive trim panel such as an instrument panel with a laser to allow light to bleed through the perforations. The light source would preferably be a low heat generating or “cool” type source such as an LED. The light source would be attached to a suitable substrate or incorporated in to a flexible printed circuit and coupled to the vehicle electrical system. This method would enable fill switch integration to a trim panel and provide a seamless styling opportunity regarding the electrical controls. This method would help reduce cost and weight, improve quality, and promote new seamless styling theme.
