Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of jet exit conditions on the passive scalar field of an axisymmetric free jet
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of initial flow conditions on the passive scalar field of a turbulent free jet issuing from the round nozzle is investigated by a review of the literature and a detailed experimental study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mixing Characteristics of Axisymmetric Free Jets From a Contoured Nozzle, an Orifice Plate and a Pipe
TL;DR: In this paper, the differences in mixing performance between axisymmetric turbulent jets issuing from three common types of nozzle, viz. a contoured (or smooth contraction) nozzle, a sharpedged orifice and a long pipe, are investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impacts of a jet's exit flow pattern on mixing and combustion performance
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of modifying a jet's exit flow pattern on both the near and far-field turbulent mixing processes and on the resulting combustion performance is explored, revealing that increasing the coherence of large-scale motions can decrease molecular mixing rates, and yet can still be beneficial in some applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of polyurethane shape memory polymer processed by material extrusion additive manufacturing
TL;DR: In this paper, a commercial 3D-printer was used to produce 3D printed polyurethane-based shape memory polymers (SMPs) specimens and an annealing heat treatment was applied to some of the specimens.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of geometry on the mechanisms for off-bottom solids suspension in a stirred tank
TL;DR: In this article, two Lightnin A310 impellers with diameters of D ¼T/3 and D¼ T/2 were tested at varying off-bottom clearances.
