Journal ArticleDOI
Phosphate binders in patients with chronic kidney disease.
TL;DR: Hyperphosphataemia in patients with chronic kidney disease, particularly those on dialysis, can be ameliorated by oral phosphate binders in conjunction with dietary phosphate restriction, but it remains uncertain whether they improve clinical outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in serum prolactin, sex hormones and thyroid function with alternate nightly nocturnal home haemodialysis
Carolyn van Eps,Carmel M. Hawley,Janine Jeffries,David W. Johnson,Scott B. Campbell,Nicole M. Isbel,David W. Mudge,Johannes B. Prins +7 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that extended hours haemodialysis may improve these derangements associated with hyperprolactinaemia, low total (TT) and free (FT) serum testosterone, high luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle‐stimulating hormone (FSH) and premature menopause.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence and correlates of erectile dysfunction in men on chronic haemodialysis: a multinational cross-sectional study
Mariacristina Vecchio,Suetonia C. Palmer,G. De Berardis,Jonathan C. Craig,David W. Johnson,Fabio Pellegrini,Antonio Nicolucci,Michela Sciancalepore,Valeria Saglimbene,Letizia Gargano,Carmen Bonifati,Marinella Ruospo,Sankar D. Zucchelli,Giorgio Triolo,S. Maffei,Jörgen Hegbrant,Charlotta Wollheim,S. De Cosmo,Valeria Maria Manfreda,Giovanni F.M. Strippoli,K. Steiner +34 more
TL;DR: Given the prevalence of this condition and the relative lack of efficacy data for pharmacological agents, it is suggested that large trials of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for erectile dysfunction and depression are needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quality of life of children and adolescents with chronic kidney disease: a cross-sectional study
Anna Francis,Madeleine Didsbury,Anita van Zwieten,Kerry Chen,Laura J James,Siah Kim,Kirsten Howard,Gabrielle Williams,Omri Bahat Treidel,Steven McTaggart,Amanda Walker,Fiona E. Mackie,Tonya Kara,Natasha Nassar,Armando Teixeira-Pinto,Allison Tong,David W. Johnson,Jonathan C. Craig,Germaine Wong +18 more
TL;DR: The overall QoL and domains such as pain and emotion are substantially worse in children on dialysis compared with earlier stage CKD and those with kidney transplants.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Cross-trait linkage disequilibrium regression of multiple myeloma (MM) and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) genome-wide association study (GWAS) data sets identifies shared biological pathways influencing the development of CLL and, MM and further the understanding of the aetiological basis of these B-cell malignancies.
