Journal ArticleDOI

Prospective association of 25-hydroxyvitamin d3 and d2 with childhood lung function, asthma, wheezing, and flexural dermatitis

TL;DR: The results suggest that higher 25(OH)D3 concentrations are associated with increased risk of wheezing and flexural dermatitis, and do not provide strong evidence that lower concentrations of vitamin D are detrimental to respiratory and allergic health in children.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antidepressant use before and after the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes: a longitudinal modeling study

TL;DR: In incident cancer case subjects, antidepressant use substantially increased after the cancer diagnosis, demonstrating that the analysis was sensitive for detecting long-term changes in antidepressant trajectories when they existed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Skin pigmentation, sun exposure and vitamin D levels in children of the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children.

TL;DR: In this population taking protective measures against sunburn and skin cancer does not seem to remove the positive effect that having a less pigmented skin has on vitamin D production, as skin pigmentation showed only a small effect on circulating 25(OH)D.
Journal ArticleDOI

The metabolic syndrome and coronary heart disease in older women: findings from the British Women's Heart and Health Study.

TL;DR: To compare two proposed definitions of the metabolic syndrome and to determine the clinical importance of the syndrome with respect to its association with coronary heart disease (CHD).
