Application of photometric models to asteroids.

TL;DR: In this paper, the brightness of a rough and porous surface is parameterized in terms of the optical properties of individual particles, by shadowing between particles, and by the way in which light is scattered among collections of particles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Europa's phase curve: Implications for surface structure

TL;DR: The surface of the Jovian satellite Europa is characterized on the basis of an analysis of ground photoelectric photometry at 470 and 550 nm and Voyager images as discussed by the authors, and it is concluded that the surface was formed mainly by endogenic processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fitting theoretical photometric functions to asteroid phase curves

TL;DR: In this paper, the shape and the photometric curve of the Hapke's theoretical photometric function for fitting photometric phase data of asteroids were investigated and the uniqueness of asteroid surface properties deduced from phase curve observations over a limited phase-angle range was judged to remain questionable.
