Flavio Lopes Ferreira,Jean Louis Vincent,Christian Brun-Buisson,Charles L. Sprung,William Sibbald,Deborah J. Cook +5 more
TL;DR: A list of therapeutic interventions considered by intensive care unit (ICU) physicians to have been tested by prospective, randomised, controlled clinical trials (RCTs) in critically ill patients is established and the perceptions of the same physicians on the therapeutic effect of these interventions as evaluated by RCT are surveyed.
Journal ArticleDOI
The reliability of electrocardiogram interpretation in critically ill patients
Wendy Lim,Ismael Qushmaq,A Tkacyzk,Laura Donahoe,Diane Heels-Ansdell,J Hancock,Ellen McDonald,Mark Crowther,P. J. Devereaux,Richard J. Cook,Deborah J. Cook +10 more
TL;DR: Assessing the intrarater and interrater reliability of electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation in critically ill patients and the effect of knowledge of cardiac troponin values on these reliability estimates found moderate reliability at best; however, there was high reliability for specific ECG changes.
Journal Article
Physicians' perceptions of laboratory costs in the intensive care unit. Hamilton Regional Critical Care Group.
TL;DR: Interventions to decrease test ordering are warranted given the large proportion of hospital resources allocated to the intensive care unit, and the feeling that test ordering in the ICU is excessive suggests that they may be open to modifying their practice.
Journal ArticleDOI
