The present invention provides a gas turbine combustor that has a fuel injection nozzle using a fluid other than liquid fuel to atomize the liquid fuel and that can suppress a reduction in power generation efficiency resulting from a heat loss while promoting the atomization of the liquid fuel. The gas turbine combustor is adapted to mix liquid fuel with combustion air led from a compressor, burn the mixture, and supply combustion gas generated to a gas turbine. The gas turbine combustor includes a fuel injection nozzle that atomizes the liquid fuel into fine liquid droplets. The fuel injection nozzle includes a first system adapted to supply the liquid fuel and a second system adapted to supply a fluid for atomizing the liquid fuel. Low-boiling liquid fuel is supplied to the second system as the fluid. The second system is adapted to heat and supply the low-boiling liquid fuel.

Methods and systems for low emission power generation in hydrocarbon recovery processes are provided. One system includes integrated pressure maintenance and miscible flood systems with low emission power generation. An alternative system provides for low emission power generation, carbon sequestration, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), or carbon dioxide sales using a hot gas expander and external combustor. Another alternative system provides for low emission power generation using a gas power turbine to compress air in the inlet compressor and generate power using hot carbon dioxide laden gas in the expander. Other efficiencies may be gained by incorporating heat cross-exchange, a desalination plant, co-generation, and other features.

The present invention relates to heat shield panels or liners to be used in combustors for gas turbine engines. The heat shield panels each comprise a hot side and a cold side and at least one isolated cooling chamber on the cold side. Each cooling chamber has a plurality of cooling film holes for allowing a coolant, such as air, to flow from the cold side to the hot side. An assembly for providing a seal at an aft end of a combustor liner for a gas turbine engine including a longitudinal centerline axis extending therethrough. The sealing assembly includes a substantially annular first sealing member positioned between an aft portion of a support member and the liner aft end so as to seat on a designated surface portion of the liner aft end and a substantially annular second sealing member positioned between the support member aft portion and a turbine nozzle located downstream of the liner aft end so as to seat on a designated surface portion of the support member aft portion. Accordingly, the first sealing member is maintained in its seated position as the support member aft portion moves radially with respect to the liner aft end and the second sealing member is maintained in its seated position as the support member aft portion moves axially with respect to the turbine nozzle. The first and second sealing members are also maintained in their respective seating positions as the support member aft portion moves axially with respect to the liner aft end and radially with respect to the turbine nozzle.

A fuel injector system for injecting fuel into a turbomachine combustion chamber, the system comprising first and second fuel injectors wherein the first injector (22) is positioned in the center of the injector system (20) so as to inject a first fuel spray (42), and wherein the second injector (28) surrounds the first injector in such a manner as to inject a second fuel spray (48) of generally annular shape around the first fuel spray. The injector system further comprises an air admission duct (22) with outlet orifices (62) opening out between the first and second injectors so as to create a separator air film (f1) between the respective combustion zones of the first and second fuel sprays.

A combustion chamber for a gas-turbine engine is disclosed in which the walls defining the combustion chamber may be easily attached to and removed from the engine structure. A dome member is attached to the engine structure such that it partially encloses the fuel injector nozzle in an upstream direction. The shape of the dome-member is such that it splits the incoming oxidizer flow into inner and outer flows which pass along the inner and outer sides of the combustion chamber. The inner and outer walls of the combustion chamber may be attached to an upstream end wall of the combustion chamber such that this assembly is removable as a unit from the dome member. The inner and outer walls, as well as the end wall, are releasably attached to the dome member such that the assembly can be removed from the gas-turbine engine without the necessity of removing or displacing the fuel injector nozzles or the dome member. Alternatively, the end wall of the combustion chamber is fixedly attached to the dome member while the inner and outer walls of the combustion chamber are releasably attached to the end wall. This enables the inner and outer walls to be separately removed from the gas-turbine engine, again without disturbing the fuel injector nozzles or the dome member.

A separator-diffuser for a gas turbine engine is disclosed wherein the diffuser includes axial walls which function as a guide vane stage for the oxidizer compressor. By incorporating the last, or downstream, guide vane stage into the diffuser structure, the overall axial length and bulk of the gas turbine engine may be significantly reduced. The separator-diffuser has a wall defining a generally annular oxidizer flow passage extending around the central axis of the gas turbine engine, the passage having an oxidizer inlet located downstream of the last rotor stage of the oxidizer compressor so as to enable the oxidizer to pass from the oxidizer compressor into the oxidizer flow passage. A generally annular separator member is located in the oxidizer flow passage downstream of the oxidizer inlet so as to divide the oxidizer flow passage into at least two separate oxidizer flow paths, each flow path having a separate oxidizer outlet. The oxidizer outlets are positioned so as to direct the oxidizer towards one of the annular array of fuel injection heads. A plurality of circumferentially spaced apart, axially extending primary arms connect the separator member to the diffuser walls so as to support the separator within the oxidizer passageway and to serve as a guide vane stage for the oxidizer emanating from the oxidizer compressor.

A pre-mixing injection system to feed a fuel/air mixture to a combustion zone in a turbojet engine combustion chamber is disclosed having a pre-mixing tube defining a convergent pre-mixing zone and a diverging intermediate zone between the fuel and air injection devices, and the combustion zone of the combustion chamber. The convergent pre-mixing zone has an inlet adjacent to the fuel injector and air swirlers to accept the fuel/air mixture into the pre-mixing tube. The pre-mixing zone converges in a direction from the inlet to an outlet which is in communication with the inlet of the divergent intermediate zone. The divergent intermediate zone has an outlet which is, in turn, in communication with the combustion zone of the turbojet engine combustion chamber. The divergent intermediate zone is defined by an inner wall and an outer wall spaced from the inner wall so as to define a generally frusto-conical chamber between them. The outer wall has a plurality of cooling holes to enable cooling air to pass through the outer wall into cooling contact with the inner wall. The frusto-conical chamber has a downstream evacuation passage to allow cooling air to pass from the frusto-conical chamber.
