Journal ArticleDOI

Bone regeneration: current concepts and future directions

TL;DR: Improved 'local' strategies in terms of tissue engineering and gene therapy, or even 'systemic' enhancement of bone repair, are under intense investigation, in an effort to overcome the limitations of the current methods, to produce bone-graft substitutes with biomechanical properties that are as identical to normal bone as possible.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Role of Cytokines including Interleukin-6 in COVID-19 induced Pneumonia and Macrophage Activation Syndrome-Like Disease.

TL;DR: A model for the classification of MAS is provided to stratify the MAS-like presentation in COVID-19 pneumonia and the complexities of discerning ARDS from MAS are explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Age-related changes in human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells: consequences for cell therapies

TL;DR: Data suggest that hMSC numbers obtained by marrow aspiration decline with age and there is an age-related decline in overall BM MSC "fitness" which might lead to problems when using autologous aged MSC for cell-based therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI

The value of sonography in the detection of bone erosions in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a comparison with conventional radiography.

TL;DR: Sonography is a reliable technique that detects more erosions than radiography, especially in early RA, and has potential in the management of patients with early RA/inflammatory arthritis.
