Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of fuel injection timing and pressure on combustion, emissions and performance characteristics of a single cylinder diesel engine
Avinash Kumar Agarwal,Dhananjay Kumar Srivastava,Atul Dhar,Rakesh Kumar Maurya,Pravesh Chandra Shukla,Akhilendra Pratap Singh +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a single cylinder research engine was used to experimentally determine the effects of fuel injection strategies and injection timings on engine combustion, performance and emission characteristics, and the experiments were conducted at constant speed (2500-rpm) with two FIPs (500 and 1000 bars respectively) and different start of injection (SOI) timings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of fuel injection pressure on diesel particulate size and number distribution in a CRDI single cylinder research engine
Avinash Kumar Agarwal,Atul Dhar,Dhananjay Kumar Srivastava,Rakesh Kumar Maurya,Akhilendra Pratap Singh +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, a single cylinder research engine is used for experimental assessment of the effects of fuel injection strategies and start of injection timing on particulate size, surface area, and volume concentration distributions by using engine exhaust particulate sizer spectrometer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurement of number and size distribution of particles emitted from a mid-sized transportation multipoint port fuel injection gasoline engine
TL;DR: In this article, a study was carried out to characterize the engine-exhaust particulate emissions from a typical multipoint port fuel injection gasoline engine used in transportation sector and the results showed that gasoline engine performance was superior to its diesel counterparts in terms of particulate size and number distribution, however it deteriorates very quickly as soon as the fuel-air mixture becomes closer to stoichiometric ratio, typically under high engine load and speed conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of fuel injector deposit on spray characteristics, gaseous emissions and particulate matter in a gasoline direct injection engine
Changzhao Jiang,Hongming Xu,Dhananjay Kumar Srivastava,Xiao Ma,Karl D. Dearn,Roger Cracknell,Jens Krueger-Venus +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the impact of injector deposit on the spray characteristics of modern gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines and found that injector deposits can cause changes to spray characteristics and lead to deterioration in fuel economy and exhaust emissions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of liner surface properties on wear and friction in a non-firing engine simulator
TL;DR: In this paper, a non-firing engine simulator has been developed in order to simulate engine conditions to a closer extent compared to these machines, which can simulate almost all engine operating conditions, except firing pressures.
