Catalytic Hunsdiecker Reaction and One-Pot Catalytic Hunsdiecker–Heck Strategy: Synthesis of α,β-Unsaturated Aromatic Halides, α-(Dihalomethyl)benzenemethanols, 5-Aryl-2,4-pentadienoic acids, Dienoates and Dienamides

TL;DR: In this paper, an ionic pathway involving the attack of the halogenium ion across the carbon-carbon double bond, triggering the elimination of carbon dioxide has been proposed, which is a useful insight into the mechanism of the present halodecarboxylation reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

A tandem Petasis–Ugi multi component condensation reaction: solution phase synthesis of six dimensional libraries

TL;DR: Amino acids with three points of diversity generated from the Petasis boronic acid-Mannich reaction can be used as one of the four components of the Ugi condensation to prepare six dimensional libraries of dipeptide amides.
Journal ArticleDOI

Is metal necessary in the Hunsdiecker-Borodin reaction?

TL;DR: The first metal-free catalytic version of the title reaction was reported in this article, where the tetrabutylammonium trifluoroacetate (TBATFA) catalyzed conversion of α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids to the corresponding halides with N-halosuccinimides in dichloroethane was used for a facile synthesis of piperine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Petasis boronic acid-Mannich reactions of substituted hydrazines: synthesis of α-hydrazinocarboxylic acids

TL;DR: In this article, N -1-(Carbamate protected)-N -2-(alkyl or aryl substituted) hydrazines can serve as amine substrates for the Petasis boronic acid-Mannich reaction, providing a practical synthetic route for the preparation of α-hydrazinocarboxylic acids.
