TL;DR: In this article, a self-assembled conjugated polydiacetylene nanowires resulting from photoinduced topochemical reaction of diacetylene molecules were obtained by a simple coadsorption method.
Abstract: The self-assembled diacetylene molecular monolayer was prepared on highly oriented pyrolitic graphite and observed by scanning tunneling microscopy. Upon applying ultraviolet irradiation, the self-assembled conjugated polydiacetylene nanowires resulting from photoinduced topochemical reaction of diacetylene molecules were obtained. Control of the spacings between nanowires was achieved by a simple coadsorption method. The result presented here may supply a general method to obtain spacing-controllable organic nanowires.

TL;DR: The adsorption mode of cinchonidine on Cu(111) was directly obtained by in situ STM and the molecules were found to adsorb on the substrate surface and form a long-range ordered adlayer with (4 x 4) symmetry.
Abstract: The adsorption mode of cinchonidine on Cu(111) was directly obtained by in situ STM. The molecules were found to adsorb on the substrate surface and form a long-range ordered adlayer with (4 × 4) symmetry. While the quinoline rings lie parallel to Cu(111), the chiral quinuclidine moiety extends out of the surface. The enantioselectivity of catalysts may relate to this special adsorption conformation of cinchonidine on the surface.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) imaging to reveal the details of the adlayer structures and internal structure of individual molecules.
Abstract: Adsorption of pyridine, pyrazine, and triazine molecules on a Cu(111) electrode surface was studied in aqueous solution by using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). High-resolution STM imaging reveals the details of the adlayer structures and internal structure of individual molecules. The molecules are found to form long-range well-ordered adlayers. The same (3 × 3) structures with a coverage of 0.11 are observed on the three adlayers. All three molecules adopt flat-lying orientation in the double-layer potential region, although the adsorption geometries are different. π electrons are believed to be important in stabilizing the molecules in flat-lying orientation. Three structural models are proposed for the three adlayers.

TL;DR: In this article, the solid-state reaction process of a SrO-Al 2 O 3 system with the nominal composition 1:1 (mol) has been investigated, and the dopant B 2 O3 can reduce the forming temperature of the reaction intermediate 3SrO.
Abstract: The solid-state reaction process of SrO-Al 2 O 3 system with the nominal composition SrO:Al 2 O 3 = 1:1 (mol) has been investigated. A small amount B 2 O 3 can act as a flux to accelerate the forming of SrO.Al 2 O 3 host lattice and improve the luminescent properties of SrO.Al 2 O 3 :Eu 2+ phosphor. The fluxing role of B 2 O 3 is proved as the dopant B 2 O 3 can reduce the forming temperature of the reaction intermediate 3SrO.Al 2 O 3 and form the fusible borate to speed the reacting materials diffusion. Excessive B 2 O 3 will result in the forming of the impurity 4SrO.7Al 2 O 3 in the host lattice, which makes the emission intensity decrease and the emission wavelength shift to short wave.

TL;DR: Gel mobility shift assay demonstrated that GST-AtMYB305 fusion protein bound specifically to the DNA fragment that included a consensus MYB recognition sequence (TAACTG) which caused the formation of elongated cells with one condensed nucleus.
Abstract: An MYB transcription factor (AtMYB305) of Arabidopsis was structurally characterized. The biochemical activity of the protein was tested and its in vivo function was preliminarily analyzed. AtMYB305 contains two imperfect repeats (R2, R3) in its DNA binding domain. Gel mobility shift assay demonstrated that GST-AtMYB305 fusion protein bound specifically to the DNA fragment that included a consensus MYB recognition sequence (TAACTG). Overexpression of AtMYB305 in the fission yeast caused the formation of elongated cells with one condensed nucleus. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR analysis revealed that AtMYB305 was expressed specifically in the roots of Arabidopsis.
