Effect of Particulate Matter Exposure on Respiratory Health of e-Waste Workers at Agbogbloshie, Accra, Ghana
Afua Asabea Amoabeng Nti,John Arko-Mensah,Paul K. Botwe,Duah Dwomoh,Lawrencia Kwarteng,Sylvia Akpene Takyi,Augustine A. Acquah,Prudence Tettey,Niladri Basu,Stuart Batterman,Thomas G. Robins,Julius N. Fobil +11 more
TL;DR: Direct exposure of e-waste workers to PM predisposes to decline in lung function and risk for small airway diseases such as asthma and COPD, according to this longitudinal cohort study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessing the impact of differences in malaria transmission intensity on clinical and haematological indices in children with malaria.
Henrietta E. Mensah-Brown,James Abugri,James Abugri,Kwaku Poku Asante,Duah Dwomoh,David Dosoo,Frank Atuguba,David J. Conway,Gordon A. Awandare +8 more
TL;DR: Significant differences in the haematological presentation and severity of malaria among areas with different transmission intensity in Ghana are demonstrated, indicating that these factors need to be considered in planning the management of the disease as the endemicity is expected to decline after control interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pathways to psychiatric care for mental disorders: a retrospective study of patients seeking mental health services at a public psychiatric facility in Ghana.
Abdallah Ibrahim,Sidua Hor,Ozge Sensoy Bahar,Duah Dwomoh,Mary McKay,Mary McKay,Reuben K. Esena,Irene Akua Agyepong +7 more
TL;DR: Since nearly half of patients do not initially seek mental health care directly at the formal psychiatric facility, it is important for the government of Ghana to increase funding to the mental health authorities in Ghana as a matter of priority so that more individuals can be identified and integrated into mainstream psychiatric treatment and general health facilities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thomas P. Agyekum,Paul K. Botwe,John Arko-Mensah,Ibrahim Issah,Augustine A. Acquah,Jonathan N. Hogarh,Duah Dwomoh,Thomas G. Robins,Julius N. Fobil +8 more
TL;DR: There seems to be inconclusive evidence of the effects of temperature on the development and survival of Anopheles species, and more studies are needed to clarify this relationship.
