Journal ArticleDOI
Nucleotide sequence of the genomic RNA of pepper mild mottle virus, a resistance-breaking tobamovirus in pepper
E. Alonso,Isabel García-Luque,A. De La Cruz,B. Wicke,M. J. Ávila-Rincón,María Teresa Serra,Carmen Castresana,José Ramón Díaz-Ruíz +7 more
TL;DR: The entire genomic RNA of a Spanish isolate of pepper mild mottle virus (PMMV-S), a resistance-breaking virus in pepper, was cloned and sequenced and shown to be similar to other tobamoviruses in its genomic organization.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Tobamovirus Causing Heavy Losses in Protected Pepper Crops in Spain
E. Alonso,I. Garcia Luque,M. J. Avila-Rincón,B. Wicke,María Teresa Serra,José Ramón Díaz-Ruíz +5 more
TL;DR: During a four-year survey of plant viruses infecting pepper cultivars grown under plastic in the Southeastern region of Spain, a tobamovirus was found to be the major disease agent of this crop, causing a catastrophic disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
The nucleotide sequence of the coat protein genes and 3′ non-coding regions of two resistance-breaking tobamoviruses in pepper shows that they are different viruses
Isabel García-Luque,M. L. Ferrero,Javier M. Rodríguez,E. Alonso,A. De La Cruz,Ana I. Sanz,Carmen Vaquero,María Teresa Serra,José Ramón Díaz-Ruíz +8 more
TL;DR: The nucleotide and the predicted coat protein amino acid sequence analysis show that this isolate of an Italian isolate of pepper mild mottle virus should be considered as a new virus within the tobamovirus group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of a Spanish strain of pepper mild mottle virus (PMMV-S) and its relationship to other tobamoviruses.
Isabel García-Luque,María Teresa Serra,E. Alonso,B. Wicke,M. L. Ferrero,José Ramón Díaz-Ruíz +5 more
TL;DR: The results support the proposal of grouping these pepper viruses, including the “pepper strains” of TMV, as a new tobamovirus subgroup.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nucleotide sequences of 5' and 3' non-coding regions of pepper mild mottle virus strain S RNA.
TL;DR: The nucleotide sequences of the 5' and 3' non-coding regions of pepper mild mottle virus strain S (PMMV-S) RNA were determined; they are more like corresponding sequences of tomato mosaic virus (ToMV) RNA than those of any other tobamovirus reported so far.
