Wise brown dwarf binaries: the discovery of a t5+t5 and a t8.5+t9 system ∗
Christopher R. Gelino,J. Davy Kirkpatrick,Michael C. Cushing,Peter Eisenhardt,Roger L. Griffith,Amy Mainzer,Kenneth A. Marsh,Michael F. Skrutskie,Edward L. Wright +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a search for the coolest brown dwarfs using preliminary processing of data from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WFS Explorer) was conducted, and the results of that search include a T5 binary with nearly equal mass components and a faint companion to a T8.5 dwarf with an estimated spectral type of T9.
Journal ArticleDOI
WISEA J114724.10-204021.3: A Free-Floating Planetary Mass Member of the TW Hya Association
TL;DR: WISEA J114724.10−204021.3 was discovered based on its red AllWISE color (W1−W2 = 0.63 mag) and extremely red 2MASS J−K_S color (> 2.64 mag), the latter of which is confirmed with near-infrared photometry from the VISTA Hemisphere Survey (J−k_S = 2.57±0.03) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Field Substellar Mass Function Based on the Full-sky 20 pc Census of 525 L, T, and Y Dwarfs

Voloshin,Jim Walla,Zbigniew Wedracki +51 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the final Spitzer trigonometric parallaxes for 361 L, T, and Y dwarfs and provided polynomial fits to the bulk trends.
Journal ArticleDOI
The NEOWISE-Discovered Comet Population and the CO+CO_2 production rates
James M. Bauer,R. Stevenson,E. A. Kramer,A. K. Mainzer,Tommy Grav,Joseph R. Masiero,Yan Fernandez,Roc M. Cutri,John W. Dailey,Frank J. Masci,Karen J. Meech,Karen J. Meech,R. G. Walker,C. M. Lisse,Paul R. Weissman,Carrie R. Nugent,Sarah Sonnett,Nathan Blair,Andrew Lucas,Robert S. McMillan,Edward L. Wright,Neowise Teams +21 more
TL;DR: The 163 comets observed during the WISE/NEOWISE prime mission represent the largest infrared survey to date of comets, providing constraints on dust, nucleus size, and CO + CO_2 production.
Journal ArticleDOI
NEOWISE Reactivation Mission Year Two: Asteroid Diameters and Albedos
C. R. Nugent,A. K. Mainzer,James M. Bauer,Roc M. Cutri,Emily Kramer,Tommy Grav,Joseph Masiero,Sarah Sonnett,Edward L. Wright +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented thermal model fits of asteroid diameters for 170 asteroids and 6110 Main Belt asteroids (MBAs) detected during the third year of the NEOWISE survey, as well as the associated optical geometric albedos.
