Turkiye bircok sebze turunun yetismesi icin uygun ekolojik kosullara sahiptir. Bu calisma 2013-2015 yillari arasinda, Ordu ilinde yetistirilen sebzelerden, fasulye ( Phaseolus vulgaris L., Fabaceae), misir ( Zea mays L., Poaceae), hiyar ( Cucumis sativus L., Cucurbitaceae), patlican ( Solanum melongena L., Solanaceae), pirasa ( Allium porrum L., Alliaceae), marul ( Lactuca sativa L., Asteraceae), sogan ( Allium cepa L., Alliaceae), biber ( Capsicum annuum L., Solanaceae), patates ( Solanum tuberosum L., Solanaceae), turp ( Raphanus sativus L., Brassicaceae), domates ( Solanum lycopersicum L., Solanaceae), karpuz ( Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. & Nakai., Cucurbitaceae) ve kabak ( Cucurbita sp., Cucurbitaceae) uzerinde bulunan akar turlerini belirlemek amaci ile yurutulmustur. Orneklemeler her yilin nisan-kasim aylari arasinda haftalik olarak yapilmistir. Calisma boyunca 2030 adet akar toplanmis ve incelenmistir. Uc alt takima bagli 15 familya ve 30 cinsden toplam 43 akar turu saptanmistir. Belirlenen akarlar arasinda en yaygin bitki zararlisi tur,  Tetranychus urticae Koch, 1836 (Prostigmata: Tetranychidae) iken en yaygin predator tur ise  Amblyseius swirskii Athias-Henriot, 1962 (Mesostigmata: Phytoseiidae) olmustur. Ayrica calisma da belirlenen  Amblyseius rademacheri Dosse, 1958 (Mesostigmata: Pyhtoseiidae) turu, Turkiye predator akar faunasi icin yeni kayit niteligindedir.  Solanum melongena L. (Solanaceae) uzerinden toplanan bu tur tanimlanarak cizimleri sunulmustur. Ayrica Turkiye’de tespit edilmis  Amblyseius  cinsi akarlar icin teshis anahtari da verilmistir.

Mite species of the vegetable crops in Ordu Province with first report of Amblyseius rademacheri Dosse, 1958 (Mesostigmata: Phytoseiidae) in Turkey

Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande, 1895) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) tarimda dunya capinda yaygin olan onemli bir zararlidir. Spinosad,  F. occidentalis turu de dahil olmak uzere Turkiye’de baslica zararlilara karsi kullanilmaktadir. Fakat 2015 yilinda Kumluca, Antalya, Turkiye’den bir biber serasindan alinan  F. occidentalis populasyonunda spinosad’a direnc belirlenmistir. Bu populasyon (Antalya-2015) alindigi serada uzun sure yogun spinosad uygulamasina maruz kalmistir. Ayni populasyonun acrinathrin ve formetanate’a karsi capraz direnci arastirilmistir ve bunun spinosad’a karsi direncinin stabilitesi 12 aydan daha fazla bir sure boyunca izlenmistir. Yaprak-daldirma biyoassayi ile Hassas ve Antalya-2015 populasyonlarinin LC degerleri tespit edilmistir ve direnc oranlari hesaplanmistir. Antalya-2015 populasyonu spinosad’a 235-kat kadar oldukca yuksek duzeyde direnclidir ve bu populasyon acrinathrin’e 15-kat capraz-direnc gostermistir. Formetanate’a capraz direnc tespit edilmemistir. Ek olarak, spinetoram ve spinosad etiket dozlarinda Antalya-2015 populasyonu uzerinde test edilmistir. Bu aktif maddelerle elde edilen olum oranlari sirasiyla %88 ve %38’dir. Spinosad direncinin stabilite testinde, Antalya-2015 populasyonu insektisitlere maruz kalmaksizin 1 yillik bir sure bekletildiginde bile olum oraninda 12 ay oncesine gore onemli bir degisiklik bulunmamistir. Bu yuzden Antalya-2015 populasyonunda spinosad direnci stabildir.

Because of its ability to expedite specimen identification and species delineation, the barcode index number (BIN) system presents a powerful tool to characterize hyperdiverse invertebrate groups such as the Acari (mites). However, the congruence between BINs and morphologically recognized species has seen limited testing in this taxon. We therefore apply this method towards the development of a barcode reference library for soil, poultry litter, and nest dwelling mites in the Western Palearctic. Through analysis of over 600 specimens, we provide DNA barcode coverage for 35 described species and 70 molecular taxonomic units (BINs). Nearly 80% of the species were accurately identified through this method, but just 60% perfectly matched (1:1) with BINs. High intraspecific divergences were found in 34% of the species examined and likely reflect cryptic diversity, highlighting the need for revision in these taxa. These findings provide a valuable resource for integrative pest management, but also highlight the importance of integrating morphological and molecular methods for fine-scale taxonomic resolution in poorly-known invertebrate lineages.

Arthropod Pest Management in Organic Vegetable Greenhouses

An annotated list and key to the 26 species of phytophagous false spider mites (Trombidiformes: Tenuipalpidae) known from Israel is provided. About two thirds are exotics, having invaded Israel within the last 35 years. Eight species, namely Brevipalpus californicus, B. lewisi, B. obovatus, B. phoenicis, B. yothersi, Raoiella indica, Tenuipalpus granati and T. punicae are agricultural pests. The others have little economic impact, or are possibly controlled by natural enemies. A key to all the species is given.

The Tenuipalpidae (Acari: Trombidiformes) of Israel

Many arthropod agricultural pests have become resistant to pesticides through inappropriate usage. A consequence of this resistance is often cross-resistance with other pesticides with similar or related modes of actions. As a result of increasing pesticide resistance, a movement to alternative, ‘green’ botanical pesticides has been growing. A new formulation of volatile oils, extracted from a variety of plants allows for slow-release and longer duration in the field. In this publication we present results of the efficacy of one of these products against the cotton aphid Aphis gossypii on cucumber plants in replicated choice tests. The slow release Ap2, a Bio-Pel product from Newseal Mineral and Coatings Ltd. (hereafter Newseal), significantly reduced the population of aphids on test plants and prevented their movement upwards on the plant. Additionally, four Newseal products caused no mortality to the aphid parasitoid Aphidius colemani or to the generalist predator, Orius laevigatus.
