TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed knowledge management of business students in an online education setting to discover its influence on students' perception of both their general employment chances, and specifically in online businesses.
Abstract: Business education has been currently challenged by the fast introduction of online learning platforms for students enrolled in higher education who had been previously used only face-to-face interaction, raising questions about the sustainability of online education. This new learning environment creates a different path for students managing their knowledge, who, due to the influence of online experiences, could develop different skills with different outcomes for their chances of employment. This study analyses knowledge management of business students in an online education setting to discover its influence on students’ perception of both their general employment chances, and specifically in online businesses. To conduct the study, we opted for a quantitative research design based on a questionnaire applied between November and December of 2020, which resulted in valid responses from 256 Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree students. In line with the research hypotheses, correlation, reliability tests and logistic regression were used to perform data analysis. The results clearly indicate that students’ perception of their employment chances depend on the increasing score of knowledge acquisition, knowledge revision, conceptual change and knowledge application, independently and under the action of control variables. Additionally, knowledge application proved to be an important determinant for students’ perception of their employment chances in online businesses.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the relations between low demand, cash flow problems, employee dismissals, and temporary leaves experienced by Romanian companies during the economic lockdown in the first two months of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in Romania (16 March-16 May 2020).
Abstract: The aim of this study is to describe the relations between low demand, cash flow problems, employee dismissals, and temporary leaves experienced by Romanian companies during the economic lockdown in the first two months of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in Romania (16 March–16 May 2020). For this purpose, we conducted a quantitative study using descriptive, correlation, and regression analyses applied to data collected from company decision-makers. Our results show that demand for products/services and cash flow in companies has decreased significantly, the workforce being affected by dismissals and temporary leaves/furloughing. Additionally, the average linear revenue of companies has been decreasing due to insufficient cash flow, higher absenteeism of workers, customers having been affected, and the demand going down. Therefore, employee dismissals, employee temporary leaves (furlough), and dismissal intentions have been positively correlated with insufficient cash flow in companies and an extremely low demand.

TL;DR: In this paper , a series of multiple linear regressions was run to select the most relevant predictors of corporate digital technology adaptation, and the results suggest that Rule of Law, Government Effectiveness and Ease of Starting a Business are the institutional framework pillars that best predict corporate digital-technology adaptation levels.
Abstract: This article is concerned with the impact of corporate digitalization on the corporate sustainability performance and with barriers and supportive institutional frameworks for corporate digital technology adaptation. Collected from big data sets such as the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) country reports and the Global Innovation Index (GII), our study draws on data from 29 European countries. A series of multiple linear regressions was run to select the most relevant predictors of corporate digital technology adaptation. The results suggest that Rule of Law, Government Effectiveness and Ease of Starting a Business are the institutional framework pillars that best predict corporate digital technology adaptation levels. Our findings further show that high levels of corporate digital technology adaptation occur where institutional frameworks are well-integrated across several social domains (economy, politics, legal system, etc.). We conclude by highlighting implications for the design of digital policies aiming at a strategic integration of digital technology adaptation and corporate sustainability.

TL;DR: In this paper, a study was conducted to find out the preferred organisational rewards among respondents in employment interviews (for attraction into organisations), and after employment (for retention into organisations) for retaining human resources in organisations grounded on the WorldatWork model of the research group at A&M Texas University.
Abstract: After reviewing the literature on the concept of total reward and human resource behaviour desired by organisations, this study suggests a model of total reward for retaining human resources in organisations grounded on the WorldatWork model of the research group at A&M Texas University (Boswell et al., 2011). Study participants were the employees, master and doctoral students from Iasi, Romania. The study was conducted to find out the preferred organisational rewards among respondents in employment interviews (for attraction into organisations), and after employment (for retention into organisations). Also, the questions included in the questionnaire referred only to rewards practised in Romania, which are in compliance with the legislation on force. The designed questionnaire was pre-tested twice: in April and December of 2014 (Hodor, 2015), and was significantly modified. The study results show the fact that the variables that compose total reward – compensation (C), granted benefits (B), personal and professional life balance (WLB), performance and recognition (P & R), career opportunities and development (O & D) – become important after the moment of employment. Also, the study reveals that work-life-balance has the highest importance in human resources’ retention. Additionally, the presence of such rewards as remuneration, benefits, performance and recognition influences the decision to remain in the organization. In this paper are also presented other synthetic results of the entire study completed in 2017.

TL;DR: Nonaka and Takeuchi as discussed by the authors developed a theory of organizational knowledge centered on the social interplay of tacit and explicit knowledge and described four sequential knowledge conversion modes in a two-dimensional system formed by (a) tacit and explicitly knowledge and by (b) the various organizational levels (individual, group, organization).
Abstract: In the above quote, Nonaka, Toyama, et al. (2000) lay out their (then) unorthodox understanding of an organization as an institution centered on the creation and amplification of knowledge. This view strongly contrasts to the perception of traditional Western management of an “organization as a machine for ‘information processing’” (Nonaka and Takeuchi 1995). From these contradictory views on this topic in the Western and Japanese culture, Nonaka and Takeuchi (1995) depart to develop a theory of organizational knowledge centered on the social interplay of tacit and explicit knowledge. They describe four sequential knowledge conversion modes in a two-dimensional system formed by (a) tacit and explicit knowledge and by (b) the various organizational levels (individual, group, organization). Even its critics (Gourlay 2006) admit the quasi-paradigmatic status of the this theory and recognize it as one of the most influential approaches in organizational learning and knowledge management.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on the early empirical literature that primarily relied on data collected during the first wave of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and synthesize the results of a thematic literature review.
Abstract: The COVID-19 crisis triggered by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and the infection control measures taken have extended beyond affecting health issues to impact economic activity worldwide. In this structured literature review, the focus is specifically on how the crisis has impacted entrepreneurial activity. The review focuses on the early empirical literature that primarily relied on data collected during the first wave of the pandemic. These empirical results are synthesized in a thematic literature review. The entrepreneurship research on the COVID-19 crisis is marked by three perspectives: the uncertainty perspective, the resilience perspective, and the opportunity perspective. To obtain a complete picture of the effects of the crisis on entrepreneurship, these three perspectives should be considered in combination. We provide implications for future research, policymakers, and entrepreneurs discussing how the interplay of the reviewed perspectives provides paths toward creative reconstruction, that is, the opportunity to move beyond pre-crisis levels of innovation and entrepreneurial action.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors tried to analyze the implication of one year of online education in the Romanian education system, by analyzing all the levels of education, primary education, lower secondary education, upper secondary education and even the early childhood system, but also one of the smallest Romanian universities.
Abstract: The study tried to analyze the implication of one year of online education in the Romanian education system. To achieve this goal, the authors of this study analyzed all the levels of education, primary education, lower secondary education, upper secondary education, and even the early childhood system, but also one of the smallest Romanian universities, considered representative for grade 1 universities representing 60% of the Romanian universities. The study is based on four online questionnaires for investigation, first with more than 2500 respondents from the primary and secondary Romanian education system, and the other three applied to more than 800 students and professors from the University of Petroșani. The investigation took place during 29 January 2021 and 11 February 2021. The authors had investigated the main feature of a standard online or a classical e-learning solution, such as the meeting solution or the video conference software, the collaborative work, such as homework or projects, and the testing method or the quizzes from both perspectives of the students and of the professors. The study results could influence the expected future hybrid educational system because these results were not covered in the previous literature but proved to be necessary for relevant knowledge strategies to be implemented in the new pandemic and also in the future context.

TL;DR: Based on the panel data of 30 Chinese provinces from 2011 to 2019, the authors measured digitalization, technological innovation, and green economic development for the first time using the entropy method and included them in the same analytical framework by constructing a PVAR model.
Abstract: Green technological innovation is one of the endogenous drivers of green economic growth, and digitalization can promote green economic development in the form of industrial empowerment. The interactive relationship and the degree of influence between digitalization, technological innovation, and green economic development is thus an urgent issue to be addressed. Based on the panel data of 30 Chinese provinces from 2011 to 2019, we measured digitalization, technological innovation, and green economic development for the first time using the entropy method and included them in the same analytical framework by constructing a PVAR model to empirically test their interrelationship and degree of influence. Our findings suggest that: (1) There is an inertial development and self-reinforcing mechanism among the three variables. (2) The impact of digitalization on green economic development has a positive promotion effect, while the impact of technological innovation on green economic development is not significant. (3) The impact of green economic development on technological innovation has a positive promotion effect in the short term, but this effect gradually declines and tends to zero in the long term. Finally, based on the findings, several practical suggestions are made.
