Journal ArticleDOI
MicroRNAs 221 and 222 inhibit normal erythropoiesis and erythroleukemic cell growth via kit receptor down-modulation
Nadia Felli,Laura Fontana,Elvira Pelosi,Rosanna Botta,Désirée Bonci,Francesco Facchiano,Francesca Liuzzi,Valentine Lulli,Ornella Morsilli,Simona Santoro,Mauro Valtieri,Mauro Valtieri,George A. Calin,Chang Gong Liu,Antonio Sorrentino,Antonio Sorrentino,Carlo M. Croce,Cesare Peschle,Cesare Peschle +18 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that the decline of miR 221 and 222 during exponential E growth unblocks kit protein production at mRNA level, thus leading to expansion of early erythroblasts, and the results on kit+ erythroleukemic cells suggest a potential role of these miRs in cancer therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
KDR receptor: a key marker defining hematopoietic stem cells.
Benedikt L. Ziegler,Mauro Valtieri,Mauro Valtieri,G. Almeida Porada,R De Maria,R De Maria,Robert Müller,B. Masella,Marco Gabbianelli,Ida Casella,Elvira Pelosi,T. Bock,Esmail D. Zanjani,Cesare Peschle,Cesare Peschle +14 more
TL;DR: KDR is a positive functional marker defining stem cells and distinguishing them from progenitors, comparable to the CD34 marker of hematopoietic progenitor cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
MicroRNAs 17-5p–20a–106a control monocytopoiesis through AML1 targeting and M-CSF receptor upregulation
Laura Fontana,Elvira Pelosi,Paolo Greco,Serena Racanicchi,Ugo Testa,Francesca Liuzzi,Carlo M. Croce,Ercole Brunetti,Francesco Grignani,Cesare Peschle,Cesare Peschle +10 more
TL;DR: These studies indicate that monocytopoiesis is controlled by a circuitry involving sequentially miRNA 17-5p–20a–106a, AML1 and M-CSFR, whereby miRNAs function as a master gene complex interlinked withAML1 in a mutual negative feedback loop.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of the hemangioblast in postnatal life.
Elvira Pelosi,Mauro Valtieri,Simona Coppola,Rosanna Botta,Marco Gabbianelli,Valentina Lulli,Giovanna Marziali,Barbara Masella,Robert Müller,Cecilia Sgadari,Ugo Testa,Giuseppina Bonanno,Cesare Peschle +12 more
TL;DR: These studies identified postnatal hemangioblasts in a CD34(+)KDR(+) cell subset, endowed with long-term proliferative potential and bilineage differentiation capacity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Apoptotic role of Fas/Fas ligand system in the regulation of erythropoiesis
R De Maria,R De Maria,R De Maria,Ugo Testa,Ugo Testa,Ugo Testa,L. Luchetti,L. Luchetti,L. Luchetti,A. Zeuner,A. Zeuner,A. Zeuner,Giorgio Stassi,Giorgio Stassi,Giorgio Stassi,Elvira Pelosi,Elvira Pelosi,Elvira Pelosi,Roberta Riccioni,Roberta Riccioni,Roberta Riccioni,Nadia Felli,Nadia Felli,Nadia Felli,Paola Samoggia,Paola Samoggia,Paola Samoggia,Cesare Peschle,Cesare Peschle,Cesare Peschle +29 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest the existence of a negative regulatory feedback between mature and immature erythroid cells, whereby the former cell population might exert a cytotoxic effect on the latter one in the erythroblastic island.
