TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the properties of yarns and fabrics produced from biodegradable fiber PLA, new generation regenerated fibers Modal and Tencel, synthetic and blends 50/ 50 % cotton/polyester and 50/50 % viscose polyester, polyester were selected as yarn types and by using these yarns, six knitted fabrics were produced.
Abstract: Biodegradable products are parts of a natural cycle. The biopolymers and the fibers that can be produced from them are very attractive on the market because of the positive human perception. Therefore, PLA being a well known biodegradable fiber and some conventional fibers were selected for the current study to examine the differences between them and to emphasize the importance of biodegradability beside fabric performance. 14.8 tex (Ne 40/1) combed ring spun yarns produced from biodegradable fiber PLA, new generation regenerated fibers Modal and Tencel, synthetic and blends 50/ 50 % cotton/polyester and 50/50 % viscose/polyester, polyester were selected as yarn types and by using these yarns, six knitted fabrics were produced and some important yarn and fabric properties were compared. In this context, moisture and the tensile behavior of yarns and pilling, bursting strength, air permeability and moisture management properties of the test fabrics are discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new shear frame was introduced to investigate the effects of raw material and setting on the in-plane shear behavior of woven fabrics and the results were compared with a conventional method known as the bias extension method.
Abstract: The ability of a textile product to change shape under motion-based diagonal forces defines the shear behavior of a fabric and its suitability for a wearable garment design. The principal aim of this study is to introduce a new shear frame and investigate the effects of raw material and setting on in-plane shear behavior of woven fabrics. For this purpose, the mechanical properties of systematic and commercially available non-systematic fabrics were measured. A novel approach to determine the in-plane shear behavior of woven fabrics via two complementary shear frame measurements was presented. The results were also compared with a conventional method known as the bias extension method. It was established that the proposed method provides more accurate and precise results. In order to investigate the correlation between in-plane shear behavior and other mechanical properties, bending rigidity and extension ability of fabrics were measured as well. The analyses regarding the relations between selected fabri...

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance and thermal comfort properties of nine different knitted fabrics made from natural, regenerated and synthetic fibers were investigated, including air permeability, abrasion resistance, bursting strength, thermal properties such as thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity, thermal resistance and thermal absorptivity.
Abstract: Although there are several parameters affecting fabric behavior, one of the most important factors that determines the fabric properties is the fiber type and its features. Many types of natural and chemical fibers can be used according to the usage areas and expected performance characteristics from the fabrics. Therefore, it has great importance to know the effects of fiber types, which have different sources, structures and properties, on the fabric properties. In this study, the performance and thermal comfort properties of nine different knitted fabrics made from natural, regenerated and synthetic fibers were investigated. Within this scope, air permeability, abrasion resistance, bursting strength, thermal properties such as thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, thermal resistance and thermal absorptivity of knitted fabrics made from different fiber types were measured. In general, it is concluded that the characteristic properties of the fibers are important in determining the mechanical and thermal properties of the fabrics.

Abstract: This paper is a collective review on the different methods available to recycle textile wastes namely composting, paper making, techniques adopted by fashion brands to recycle old clothing. Special focus is given to technical textiles, composites and non-woven sectors that involve product development using upcycled wastes. This can be an eye opener to researchers and industrialist’s world-wide to indulge in more research activities and serve in reducing the landfill pollution

Abstract: Bu arastirmanin amaci, atletizm dalinda amator duzeyde kosu sporuyla ilgilenen atletlerin, antrenman ya da musabakalarda kullandiklari kosu giysilerinde termal, duyusal, fiziksel ve estetik faktorler acisindan karsilastiklari sorunlari tespit etmek, performansa katki saglayan bir unsur olarak giysilerde aradiklari ozellikleri belirlemektir.
