Temperton,Wolfgang W. Weisser,Wolfgang Wilcke,Wolfgang Wilcke,Bernhard Schmid +40 more
TL;DR: This study provides the strongest empirical support so far that diversity promotes stability across different ecological functions and levels of ecosystem organization in grasslands.
Journal ArticleDOI
High plant species richness indicates management-related disturbances rather than the conservation status of forests
Steffen Boch,Daniel Prati,Jörg Müller,Stephanie A. Socher,Henryk Baumbach,François Buscot,François Buscot,Sonja Gockel,Andreas Hemp,Dominik Hessenmöller,Elisabeth K. V. Kalko,K. Eduard Linsenmair,Simone Pfeiffer,Ulf Pommer,Ingo Schöning,Ernst Detlef Schulze,Claudia Seilwinder,Wolfgang W. Weisser,Konstans Wells,Markus Fischer +19 more
TL;DR: Overall, these findings show that disturbances by management generally increase plant species richness, which suggests that total plantspecies richness is not suited as an indicator for the conservation status of forests, but rather indicates disturbances.
Journal ArticleDOI
Controls on fluxes and export of dissolved organic carbon in grasslands with contrasting soil types
Axel Don,Ernst Detlef Schulze +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the role of physicochemical parameters such as the adsorption capacity of soil minerals and the water balance of the ecosystem in DOC export in grassland ecosystems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ecophysiological investigations on lichens of the Negev desert : V. A model to simulate net photosynthesis and respiration ofRamalina maciformis.
TL;DR: In this paper, a model is developed that allows one to predict CO2 exchange of the plant based on the relationship between light intensity, temperature, and water content of the thallus, together with a measure of the rate of the seasonal change of photosynthetic and respiratory activity.
