This paper presents properties of a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) with dynamic spectrum management (DSM) and is devoted to the concept and implementation of the new traffic engine that is used in a High-Fidelity simulator of MANET with cognitive nodes for special applications. The communication traffic generated by each node is defined according to its role in the hierarchical structure of the operational scenario, determining its priorities, permission to use particular real time and non-real time services. The service usage is a source based model, defined in the user’s profile containing its statistical properties, describing periodicity, duration and randomness of traffic generation. The overall traffic generated by the node is a combination of traffics related to specific services. Their statistical parameters are based on real exercises results. The model was defined in the Matlab environment and next verified using the MAENA simulator for complex, operational scenarios. The achieved results show that use of both central and distributed DSM provides a better performance of the MANET network with complex traffic.

Performance Analysis of Public Safety Cognitive Radio MANET for Diversified Traffic

This study presents evaluation of mobile communication network performance carried out in Nigeria; it aims to evaluate the performance of mobile communication network based on Quality of Service parameters. The Quality of Service considered blocked calls, dropped call, speech quality and Received Signal Strength (RSS) in three different mobile communication networks with the following nomenclature NET A, NET B and NET C in Nigeria. The RSS data were obtained using TECNO mobile equipment, with model number TECNO N3 and Andriod Version 2.3.5, with RF network tracker software used to evaluate the Mobile communication network providers operating on the 900/1800 MHz spectrum in Nigeria. Also, subjective measurement methods using Mean Opinion Score (MOS) were deployed to determine the speech quality level. The subjective technique became accomplished in a quiet location at diverse instances, with endorsed sentences at one-of-a-kind durations respectively for the three cell networks below consideration. The investigation was for a period of one year, from June 2014 to July 2015 at Ambrose Alli University campus, Ekpoma. The male and female speech quality was examined, also, comparison analysis became finished from various networks to decide their speech fine, the utilization of different statistical techniques such as Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Correlation Coefficient. Additionally, different reasons of drop calls and low (poor) speech high-quality degrees were highlighted. It is determined that the full average RMSE value from the male speech excellent received from the 3 networks taken into consideration is 0.601, while Correlation Coefficient value got between male and female quality of speech was in variance. It was observed that Net A signal strength is more linearly distributed compared to Net B and Net C networks with a value of 0.043 MSR, while the total least average or mean value is obtained from logarithmic distribution of 0.402.

Evaluation of Mobile Communication Network Performance

This paper is focused on traffic modeling in Mobile Communication networks. This research is aimed at developing a traffic model that will predict a blocking probability for voice calls and handover calls blocking probability in mobile communication networks (GSM). The high number of block calls experience in mobile network, especially during the busy- hour as leads to poor Quality of Service (QOS) delivering in mobile network. The block calls experience in mobile network should be reduced (in line with NCC recommended value 2%) to a certain low values, to ensure good QOS. The developed traffic model is focused on new voice calls and handover calls in a cell. The developed traffic models are designed based on the number of channels resource available; these numbers of channels are partition into two segments in a cell network. The cell technology is homogenous in nature; therefore it is applicable to the entire mobile communication system. The analytical method is deployed, and the collection traffic data with equipment know as the Operation and Maintenance Center (OMC-counter) which is in built in the mobile communication network. The OMC-counter runs on Linux operation software, which helps to capture the number of arrival calls and service time in a specified interval. The arrival rate is assumed to be Poisson and the interarrival rate (the different between two arrival points or more) is also, assumed to be exponentially distributed and independence identical distributed. These parameters were assumed in the developed traffic model. The developed traffic models are blocking probability for voice calls and handover calls are shown in Equation (3) and (4). These traffic models are used to manage, a balance relationship between cost incurred in mobile communication by operators and service render to the mobile subscribers. Traffic Modeling in Mobile Communication Networks

In this paper, we investigate the possible effect of ostentatious (flash) calls in mobile communication networks (GSM) in Nigeria. The GSM network consists of physical and logical channels used to convey digit information signal from one network element to another. The Globacom network in Nigeria was investigated in a period of one year duration. An average traffic data (A-interface MSC) were collected from the OMC-network element. Also, it was observed from the result analysis that complete calls which is a major factor in revenue generation consist of both answer calls with 42 percentage and unanswered calls with 58 percentages. These unanswered calls are made up of both redial calls and ostentatious (flash) calls which are transmitted through the limited transmission channels without financial benefit accrue to the mobile communication operators. It were deduced from investigation that the traffic in erlang for average number of unanswered calls in 1 hour is 4151.92 erlang and one (1) call is 0.0023 erlang. In this paper, we highlighted the possible effects of unanswered calls, solutions of reducing the high number of unanswered calls and reduction in unanswered calls will leads to remarkable low number of block calls experience in the Mobile Communication network (GSM).
