Comparing [C II] , HI, and CO Dynamics of Nearby Galaxies
W. J. G. de Blok,W. J. G. de Blok,Fabian Walter,J. D. T. Smith,Rodrigo Herrera-Camus,Alberto D. Bolatto,M. A. Requena-Torres,Alison F. Crocker,Alison F. Crocker,Kevin V. Croxall,Robert C. Kennicutt,Jin Koda,Lee Armus,Médéric Boquien,Daniel A. Dale,Kathryn Kreckel,Sharon E. Meidt +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare observations of CO, H I, and [C II] emission of a sample of nearby galaxies, drawn from the HERACLES, THINGS, and KINGFISH surveys, and conclude that the relevant length-scale to use in determining M_(dyn) based on CO data, is that of the well-characterized CO distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI
A 33 GHz Survey of Local Major Mergers: Estimating the Sizes of the Energetically Dominant Regions from High Resolution Measurements of the Radio Continuum
L. Barcos-Muñoz,L. Barcos-Muñoz,Adam K. Leroy,Aaron S. Evans,Aaron S. Evans,James J. Condon,George C. Privon,George C. Privon,Todd A. Thompson,Lee Armus,Tanio Díaz-Santos,Joseph M. Mazzarella,David S. Meier,David S. Meier,Emmanuel Momjian,Eric J. Murphy,Juergen Ott,David B. Sanders,Eva Schinnerer,S. Stierwalt,Jason Surace,Fabian Walter +21 more
TL;DR: Very large array observations of the 33 GHz radio continuum emission from 22 local ultraluminous and luminous infrared (IR) galaxies (U/LIRGs) were presented in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
The ALMA Spectroscopic Survey Large Program: The Infrared Excess of z=1.5-10 UV-selected Galaxies and the Implied High-Redshift Star Formation History
Rychard Bouwens,Jorge González-López,Manuel Aravena,Roberto Decarli,Mladen Novak,Mauro Stefanon,Fabian Walter,Leindert Boogaard,Chris Carilli,Ugne Dudzeviciute,Ian Smail,Emanuele Daddi,Elisabete da Cunha,Rob Ivison,Themiya Nanayakkara,Paulo C. Cortes,Pierre Cox,Hanae Inami,Pascal Oesch,Gergö Popping,Dominik Riechers,Paul van der Werf,Axel Weiss,Y. Fudamoto,Jeff Wagg +24 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors make use of sensitive (9.3 microJy/beam RMS) 1.2mm-continuum observations from the ASPECS ALMA large program of the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF) to probe dust-enshrouded star formation from 1362 Lyman-break galaxies spanning the redshift range z=1.5-10 (to ~7-28 Msolar/yr at 4 sigma over the entire range).
Journal ArticleDOI
The ALMA Spectroscopic Survey in the HUDF: CO Excitation and Atomic Carbon in Star-Forming Galaxies at $z=1-3$
Leindert Boogaard,Paul van der Werf,Axel Weiß,Gergö Popping,Roberto Decarli,Fabian Walter,Manuel Aravena,Rychard Bouwens,Dominik Riechers,Jorge González-López,Ian Smail Chris Carilli,Melanie Kaasinen,Emanuele Daddi,Pierre Cox,Tanio Díaz-Santos,Hanae Inami,Paulo C. Cortes,Jeff Wagg +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the CO excitation and interstellar medium (ISM) conditions in a cold gas mass-selected sample of 22 star-forming galaxies at 0.46-3.60 GHz.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-ray Observations of a $z\sim6.2$ Quasar/Galaxy Merger
Thomas Connor,Eduardo Bañados,Daniel Stern,Roberto Decarli,Jan-Torge Schindler,Xiaohui Fan,Emanuele Paolo Farina,Chiara Mazzucchelli,John S. Mulchaey,Fabian Walter +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a 150 ks Chandra observation of PSO J308.2339 with a merging companion galaxy identified in [C II] and rest-frame UV emission is reported.
