Journal ArticleDOI
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of Au/Fe2O3 catalysts
Annamaria Visco,Fortunato Neri,Giovanni Neri,Andrea Donato,Candida Milone,Signorino Galvagno +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) data have been correlated with the activity of the investigated catalysts in the oxidation of carbon monoxide at low temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI
One-pot conversion of furfural to useful bio-products in the presence of a Sn,Al-containing zeolite beta catalyst prepared via post-synthesis routes
Margarida M. Antunes,Sérgio Lima,Patrícia Neves,Ana L. Magalhães,Enza Fazio,Auguste Fernandes,Fortunato Neri,Carlos M. Silva,Sílvia M. Rocha,Maria Filipa Ribeiro,Martyn Pillinger,Atsushi Urakawa,Anabela A. Valente +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the catalytic potentialities of modified versions of zeolite beta containing Al and Sn sites were explored for the first time, and the best performing catalyst was (Sn) SSIE -beta1 with Si/(Al+Sn) = 19 (Sn/Al = 27) and exhibited steady catalytic performance for six consecutive runs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nanoparticles Engineering by Pulsed Laser Ablation in Liquids: Concepts and Applications
Enza Fazio,Bilal Gökce,Alessandro De Giacomo,Moreno Meneghetti,Giuseppe Compagnini,Matteo Tommasini,Friedrich Waag,Andrea Lucotti,Chiara Zanchi,Paolo Maria Ossi,Marcella Dell’Aglio,Luisa D'Urso,Marcello Condorelli,Vittorio Scardaci,Francesca Biscaglia,Lucio Litti,Marina Gobbo,Giovanni Gallo,Marco Santoro,Sebastiano Trusso,Fortunato Neri +20 more
TL;DR: Biomedicine, catalysis and sensing are the application areas mainly discussed in this review, highlighting advantages of laser-synthesized nanoparticles for these types of applications and, once partially resolved, the limitations to the technique for large-scale applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solid acids with SO3H groups and tunable surface properties: versatile catalysts for biomass conversion
Patrícia A. Russo,Margarida M. Antunes,Patrícia Neves,Paul V. Wiper,Enza Fazio,Fortunato Neri,Francesco Barreca,Luís Mafra,Martyn Pillinger,Nicola Pinna,Anabela A. Valente +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a relatively simple procedure for synthesizing versatile, strong acid catalysts based on carbon and carbon-silica composites with sulfonic acid groups was described, which can be modified to tune the surface composition, texture, and acid properties of the materials towards superior catalytic performances.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integrated reduction and acid-catalysed conversion of furfural in alcohol medium using Zr,Al-containing ordered micro/mesoporous silicates
Margarida M. Antunes,Sérgio Lima,Patrícia Neves,Ana L. Magalhães,Enza Fazio,Fortunato Neri,Manuel T. Pereira,Andreia F. Silva,Carlos M. Silva,Sílvia M. Rocha,Martyn Pillinger,Atsushi Urakawa,Anabela A. Valente +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the TUD-1 and zeolite beta type silicates possessing zirconium and aluminium sites in different ratios were prepared and characterised on microstructural and molecular levels.
