Journal ArticleDOI
Review and intercomparison of operational methods for the determination of the mixing height
Petra Seibert,Frank Beyrich,Sven-Erik Gryning,Sylvain M. Joffre,Alix Rasmussen,Philippe Tercier +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of the literature on the analysis of profile measurements and the use of parameterisations and simple models, and suggest for the preprocessor development and for future research activities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Processing and quality control of flux data during LITFASS-2003
Matthias Mauder,Claudia Liebethal,Mathias Göckede,Jens-Peter Leps,Frank Beyrich,Thomas Foken +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, different aspects of the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of micrometeorological measurements were combined to create a comprehensive algorithm which was then applied to experimental data from LITFASS-2003 (Lindenberg Inhomogeneous Terrain-Fluxes between Atmosphere and Surface: a long term study).
Journal ArticleDOI
Energy balance closure for the LITFASS-2003 experiment
Thomas Foken,Matthias Mauder,Matthias Mauder,Claudia Liebethal,Florian Wimmer,Florian Wimmer,Frank Beyrich,Jens-Peter Leps,Siegfried Raasch,Henk A. R. DeBruin,W.M.L. Meijninger,Jens Bange +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors synthesize the main results from a series of previous studies on the closure of the local energy balance at low-vegetation sites during the LITFASS-2003 experiment, which cannot be fully explained either by the measurement uncertainty of the single components of the surface energy balance or by the length of the flux-averaging period.
Journal ArticleDOI
Area-Averaged Surface Fluxes Over the Litfass Region Based on Eddy-Covariance Measurements
Frank Beyrich,Jens-Peter Leps,Matthias Mauder,Jens Bange,Thomas Foken,Sven Huneke,H. Lohse,Andreas Ludi,W.M.L. Meijninger,Dmitrii Mironov,Ulrich Weisensee,Peter Zittel +11 more
TL;DR: The LITFASS-2003 experiment at 13 field sites over different types of land use (forest, lake, grassland, various agricultural crops) in a 20 × 20 km2 area around the Meteorological Observatory Lindenberg (MOL) of the German Meteorological Service (Deutscher Wetterdienst, DWD) was performed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sensitivity of Land Surface Simulations to Model Physics, Land Characteristics, and Forcings, at Four CEOP Sites
Hiroko Kato,Hiroko Kato,Matthew Rodell,Frank Beyrich,Helen A. Cleugh,Eva van Gorsel,Huizhi Liu,Tilden P. Meyers +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a set of experiments was designed which made use of high quality, physically coherent, 1-year datasets from four reference sites of the Coordinated Enhanced Observing Period (CEOP) initiative.
