A Randomized Comparison of All Transretinoic Acid (ATRA) Followed by Chemotherapy and ATRA Plus Chemotherapy and the Role of Maintenance Therapy in Newly Diagnosed Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia
Pierre Fenaux,Claude Chastang,Sylvie Chevret,Miguel A. Sanz,Hervé Dombret,Eric Archimbaud,Martin F. Fey,Consuelo Rayon,Françoise Huguet,Jean-Jacques Sotto,Claude Gardin,Pascale Cony Makhoul,Philippe Travade,Eric Solary,Nathalie Fegueux,Dominique Bordessoule,Jesús F. San Miguel,Harmut Link,Bernard Desablens,Aspasia Stamatoullas,E. Deconinck,Frédéric Maloisel,Sylvie Castaigne,Claude Preudhomme,Laurent Degos +24 more
TL;DR: It is strongly suggest that early addition of chemotherapy to ATRA and maintenance therapy combining continuous CT and intermittent ATRA can reduce the incidence of relapse in APL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interferon alfa-2b combined with cytarabine versus interferon alone in chronic myelogenous leukemia
François Guilhot,Claude Chastang,Mauricette Michallet,A. Guerci,Jean Luc Harousseau,Frédéric Maloisel,R. Bouabdallah,Denis Guyotat,Cheron N,Franck E. Nicolini,JF Abgrall,Tanzer J +11 more
TL;DR: The combination of interferon and cytarabine, as compared withinterferon alone, increases the rate of major cytogenetic response and prolongs survival in patients with the chronic phase of chronic myelogenous leukemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) deficiency in elderly patients
Emmanuel Andrès,Noureddine Henoun Loukili,Esther Noel,Georges Kaltenbach,Maher Ben Abdelgheni,A.E. Perrin,M. Noblet-Dick,Frédéric Maloisel,Jean-Louis Schlienger,Jean-Frédéric Blicklé +9 more
TL;DR: The epidemiology and causes of cobalamin deficiency in elderly people, with an emphasis on food-cobalamin malabsorption syndrome, are reviewed, and diagnostic and management strategies for cobalamina deficiency are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bortezomib plus dexamethasone is superior to vincristine plus doxorubicin plus dexamethasone as induction treatment prior to autologous stem-cell transplantation in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma: results of the IFM 2005-01 phase III trial.
Jean-Luc Harousseau,Michel Attal,Hervé Avet-Loiseau,Gerald Marit,Denis Caillot,Mohamad Mohty,Pascal Lenain,Cyrille Hulin,Thierry Facon,Philippe Casassus,Mauricette Michallet,Hervé Maisonneuve,Lotfi Benboubker,Frédéric Maloisel,Marie-Odile Petillon,Iain J. Webb,Claire Mathiot,Philippe Moreau +17 more
TL;DR: Bortezomib plus dexamethasone significantly improved postinduction and post-transplantation CR/nCR and at least VGPR rates compared with VAD and resulted in a trend for longer PFS and should be considered a standard of care in this setting.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of 200 mg/m2 melphalan and 8 Gy total body irradiation plus 140 mg/m2 melphalan as conditioning regimens for peripheral blood stem cell transplantation in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma: final analysis of the Intergroupe Francophone du Myélome 9502 randomized trial
Philippe Moreau,Thierry Facon,Michel Attal,Cyrille Hulin,Mauricette Michallet,Frédéric Maloisel,Jean-Jacques Sotto,François Guilhot,Gerald Marit,Chantal Doyen,Jérôme Jaubert,Jean-Gabriel Fuzibet,Sylvie François,Lotfi Benboubker,M. Monconduit,Laurent Voillat,Margaret Macro,Christian Berthou,Véronique Dorvaux,Bernard Pignon,Bernard Rio,Thomas Matthes,Philippe Casassus,Denis Caillot,Norbert Najman,Bernard Grosbois,Régis Bataille,Jean-Luc Harousseau +27 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the two most widely used conditioning regimens before autologous stem cell transplantation in newly diagnosed symptomatic patients younger than 65 years old: 8 Gy total body irradiation plus 140 mg/m2 melphalan (arm A) versus 200 mg /m2melphalan(arm B).
