Abstract: The dicyanogen split off from organic compounds can be detected by reaction with 8-hydroxyquinoline and alkali cyanide. Since oxamide yields dicyanogen on gentle warming with phosphorus pentoxide, and guanidine (guanidine salts) as well as melamine and guanamine produce dicyanogen on pyrolysis, specific or selective tests for these compounds have been based on this behavior.

Abstract: Tonerde, Magnesiumoxyd usw. werden bei Kontakt mit Losungen von 8-Oxychinolin (Oxin) und dessen Derivaten zur gelbgrunen bis blauweisen Fluoreszenz gebracht, die im UV-Licht erkennbar ist. Die Fluoreszenzreaktionen beruhen auf der Bildung von Innerkomplexsalzen bzw. auf chemischer Adsorption von Oxin und dessen Derivaten. Oxin kann aus der Gasphase chemisch adsorbiert werden. Diese Fluoreszenzreaktionen ermoglichen Mikronachweise fur Oxin und farblose Derivate des Oxins.
