Optimal location and parameter setting of UPFC for enhancing power system security based on Differential Evolution algorithm

TL;DR: In this paper, a new approach based on Differential Evolution (DE) technique was proposed to find out the optimal placement and parameter setting of UPFC for enhancing power system security under single line contingencies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Application and comparison of computational intelligence techniques for optimal location and parameter setting of UPFC

TL;DR: A new approach based on computational intelligence (CI) techniques to find out the optimal placement and parameter setting of UPFC for enhancing power system security under single line contingencies (N-1 contingency) indicates that DE is an easy to use, fast, robust and powerful optimization technique compared with genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO).
Journal ArticleDOI

Adaptive Multi Objective Parallel Seeker Optimization Algorithm for Incorporating TCSC Devices into Optimal Power Flow Framework

TL;DR: The proposed APSOA is used to solve the multi-objective OPF problem while LSR reduces the search space and the capabilities and gains of the proposed method from the point of view of reducing losses and total voltage deviation to lower levels as compared to those on literature for better energy utilization efficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adequate Topology for Efficient Energy Resources Utilization of Active Distribution Networks Equipped With Soft Open Points

TL;DR: The main target of this work is to increase the efficiency of energy utilization through minimizing the power system losses and improving system voltage profile while preserving all system constraints within permissible limits with reliable and flexible networks in normal and abnormal conditions with a suitable penetration level of DG.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Optimal Location and Parameter Settings of Multiple TCSCs for Increasing Power System Loadability Based on GA and PSO Techniques

TL;DR: The obtained results show that TCSC is one of the most effective series compensation devices that can significantly increase the system loadability, and indicate that both GA and PSO techniques can easily and successfully find out the optimal variables, but PSO is faster than GA from the time perspective.
