TL;DR: In this article, various methods, systems and apparatus for displaying content associated with a point-of-interest (POI) in a digital mapping system, are disclosed, including detecting a change in the zoom level of an electronic map displayed on a computing device.
Abstract: Various methods, systems and apparatus for displaying content associated with a point-of-interest (“POI”) in a digital mapping system, are disclosed. One such method may include detecting a change in the zoom level of an electronic map displayed on a computing device, determining if the new zoom-level is at a pre-determined zoom level (e.g. at maximum zoom), identifying a POI on the map, retrieving content associated with the POI (“POI content”) and displaying the POI content. The method may further include detecting a change in the zoom, or pan, of the digital map while POI content is displayed, and removing the POI content in response. One apparatus, according to aspects of the present invention, may include means of detecting a change in the zoom level in a digital map displayed through an application (e.g. a web browser, an application on web-enabled cellular phones, etc., displaying a map generated by a service such as Google Maps®, Yahoo! Maps®, Windows Live Search Maps®, MapQuest®, etc.) on a computing device (e.g. personal computer, workstation, thin client, PDA, cellular phone/smart phone, GPS device, etc.) means of identifying a POI at the pre-determined zoom level, means of obtaining content associated with the POI, and means of displaying the POI content. POI content may be retrieved from a database (e.g. internet-based database); or, in an alternate embodiment, gathered by crawling websites associated with the POI. In one embodiment, POI content may be displayed as an image (e.g. a PNG file, GIF, Flash® component, etc.) superimposed on the digital map (e.g. as an overlay object on the map image.) In alternate embodiments, POI content may replace the digital map and may contain links to other content.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for displaying the evolution of an electronic document (e.g., word processing document, portable document format file, spreadsheet, drawing, and the like), containing tracked changes, is disclosed.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying the evolution of an electronic document (e.g. word-processing document, portable-document-format file, spreadsheet, drawing, and the like), containing tracked changes, is disclosed. In accordance with the disclosed method and apparatus, the revisions of an electronic document may be treated as parent frames. In between the parent frames, child frames may be constructed from the combined images of their parent frames. To form a child frame, an image of a parent frame has a degree of translucency as it is combined with the translucent image of the other parent frame, such that every child frame contains traces of the images of both its parent frames. An input device (e.g. keyboard, mouse, touchpad, stylus, voice activation, and the like) may be used to control the frame visible to the user at any one time. The user may use the input device to traverse the frames at various speeds and in either direction, creating the visual illusion that a certain revision of the document is being morphed into its future revisions—or stripped off its changes as it is morphed into previous revisions—depending on the direction chosen by the user.

TL;DR: In this paper, a change in a zoom level of an electronic map displaying geographic content (e.g. tile-based digital map, satellite image, etc.) on a computing device (e,g. desktop/laptop, smart phone, etc, running Windows®, Linux®, Mac OS®, iOS®.
Abstract: Various methods, systems and apparatus for displaying alternate content in a digital mapping system, are disclosed. One such method may include detecting a change in a zoom level of an electronic map displaying geographic content (e.g. tile-based digital map, satellite image, etc.) on a computing device (e,g. desktop/laptop, smart phone, etc, running Windows®, Linux®, Mac OS®, iOS®. Android®, etc.); determining a predetermined (eg. maximum) zoom level has been reached; retrieving alternate content, and displaying the alternate content in addition to, or in place of, some-or-all of the geographic content. The method may further include detecting a zoom-out command while the alternate content is being displayed, and in response, restoring the display of the geographic content (e.g. at the maximum zoom level and/or last state of the geographic content display prior to displaying the alternate content.) Alternate content may be associated with any portion of geographic content displayed (e.g. the portion of the geographic content visible at the maximum zoom level) and may be selected via various algorithms and be manipulate-able via map display application controls.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a system for associating real personal information, submitted by a user, with fictitious user identities, means of verifying the real identity and the ownership of the submitted user by the submitting user, and means of receiving a request for some personal information associated with a fictitious user identity, from a remote user, means for identifying the CGI associated with the fictitious users identity, and therefore, transmitting some or all of the information to the remote user.
Abstract: Various methods, systems and apparatus for associating fictitious user identities (e.g. screen names, user names, handles, etc.) used in electronic communications (e.g. over the internet via instant messenger, e-mail, social networks, eCommerce and auction websites, etc.) with real personal information (e.g. the true identity of an individual such as their name, address, credit score, driving record, etc.) are disclosed. One such method may include storing real personal information, associated with fictitious user identities, in a CGI, hosted by a GICS. The CGI may be a unique record for an individual person and may contain real personal information verified with proper authorities (e.g. a name, address and driving record of the individual verified with a department of motor vehicles), as well as fictitious user identities used by the individual, feedback receiving from other users, etc. The method may further include allowing a remote user to submit a query to the GICS requesting information associated with a fictitious user identity, whereby the GICS may search for a CGI associating information with the fictitious user identity; and, transmit some or all of the information to the remote user. One apparatus, according to aspects of the present invention, may include means of associating real personal information, submitted by a user, with fictitious user identities, means of verifying the real personal information and the ownership of the real personal information by the submitting user, means of receiving a request for some personal information associated with a fictitious user identity, from a remote user, means for identifying the CGI associated with the fictitious user identity, means of retrieving some of the personal information from the CGI and means of transmitting some of the information to the remote user. The system may further include means of limiting the information transmitted to the remote user. (e.g. the remote user may be transmitted the credit score of the person owning a fictitious screen name, without being transmitted any further information identifying the person.)
