Journal ArticleDOI

Adrenarche: A Survey of Rodents, Domestic Animals, and Primates

TL;DR: It is apparent that adrenal androgen levels and their developmental patterns differ markedly among species, and that among the species examined, only the chimpanzee exhibits an adrenarche comparable to that of man.
Journal ArticleDOI

Endometriosis: role of ovarian steroids in initiation, maintenance, and suppression.

TL;DR: It is suggested that successful treatment of endometriosis may require both the eradication of existing endometrial plaques and the prevention of reseeding over the peritoneum resulting from retrograde menstruation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Folliculogenesis in the Primate Ovarian Cycle

TL;DR: In this review, the major consideration is given to aspects of folliculogenesis in primate species, and the attention is restricted to the dynamics of follicle growth during the primate ovarian cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Regulation of folliculogenesis in the cycling rhesus monkey: selection of the dominant follicle.

TL;DR: The interval from ablation, at either phase of the cycle, until the next ovulation was the same indicates that the prevailing ovarian steroidal milieu at ablation had no discernible differential effect on the time-course of resumed ovarian activity, and that midcycle surges of estrogen or gonadotropin secretion were not required either to initiate or synchronize subsequent follicle growth.
