TL;DR: In this paper, a spectrum inverter receives optical values from a scanning device and applies a spectrum inversion method to the optical values, which is selected based on a medium identifier that identifies the medium upon which the scanned image is formed.
Abstract: A spectrum inverter receives optical values from a scanning device and applies a spectrum inversion method to the optical values. The spectrum inversion method is selected based on a medium identifier that identifies the medium upon which the scanned image is formed. The resulting spectral space values are then output and may be used by an image output device to reproduce the scanned image.

TL;DR: In this article, a coordinate transformation that aligns the identified locations with the road network described by the geo-referenced data is proposed to improve vehicle detection and trajectory estimation.
Abstract: Methods for aligning images captured by aerial imaging platforms with a road network described by geo-referenced data, including the steps of: (a) identifying locations of moving vehicles in at least one image; (b) estimating a coordinate transformation that aligns the identified locations with the road network described by the geo-referenced data; and (c) outputting the estimated coordinate transformation or applying the estimated coordinate transformation to at least one image to align the image(s) with the road network described by the geo-referenced data. The methods may classify post-transformation detection as on-road detections or non-on-road detections to improve accuracy and synergistically use transformations and proximity to the road network to improve vehicle detection. The methods may identify vehicle trajectories to further improve accuracy and synergistically use transformations and proximity to the road network to improve estimates of vehicle trajectories.

TL;DR: The oral hygiene practices of the patients from upper and lower middle class was found to be satisfactory whereas it was poor among patients belonging to lower and upper lower class.
Abstract: Background: It is widely accepted that there are socioeconomic inequalities in oral health. A socioeconomic gradient is found in a range of clinical and self-reported oral health outcomes. Aim: The present study was conducted to assess the differences in oral hygiene practices among patients from different socioeconomic status (SES) visiting the Outpatient Department of the Sudha Rustagi College of Dental Sciences. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted from June to October 2014 to assess the effect of SES on the oral hygiene habits. The questionnaire included the questions related to the demographic profile and assessment of the oral hygiene habits of the study population. Results: Toothbrush and toothpaste were being used significantly (P

TL;DR: In this article, a marking process used to mark an image on a substrate is automatically detected using at least one image spatial characteristic obtained from image information picked up from the image, which is unique to the type of marking process, by generating an image power spectrum and analyzing the power spectrum according to the existence, position, and/or color of spectral peaks.
Abstract: A marking process used to mark an image on a substrate, such as a photographic marking process, a lithographic marking process, an ink-jet marking process, a line-on-line xerographic marking process or a rotated-screen xerographic marking process, is automatically detected using at least one image spatial characteristic obtained from image information picked up from the image. The at least one spatial characteristic, which is unique to the type of marking process, is obtained, for example, by generating an image power spectrum and analyzing the power spectrum according to the existence, position, and/or color of spectral peaks, and/or the existence or absence of abnormally high energy at the high frequencies in the power spectrum.

TL;DR: Use of inorganic fertilizers conjointly with bio-fertilizers and organic manures resulted in excellent vegetative growth and flower yield attributes in African marigold.
Abstract: African marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) is one of the most important flower crops grown commercially throughout India as a loose flower for worshipping, garland making, and garden display. The productivity and quality of flowers is greatly influenced by the quantity and source of nutrients. At present, these nutrients are primarily supplied through chemical fertilizers. The indiscriminate use and complete reliance on the use of chemical fertilizers has also led to deterioration of soil health, thereby affecting sustainable flower production. Keeping these points in view, a field experiment was conducted on African marigold cv. “Orange Culcuttia” at the Horticultural Research Farm, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with three replications and twelve treatment combinations comprised of bio-organics (Cow Urine and Vermicompost), bio-fertilizers (Azospirillum and Phosphate-Solubilizing Bacteria) and NPK fertilizers. Application of Azospirillum + Phosphate-Solubilizing Bacteria + 5% Cow Urine + 50% recommended dose of “N” through Vermicompost + 50% recommended dose of NPK fertilizer was most effective in increasing vegetative growth parameters, such as plant height, number of branches, plant spread, as well as flower yield parameters like number of flowers, flower diameter, fresh and dry weight of flowers, flower yield, flowering duration, shelf life, and it also had the maximum benefit:cost ratio. Thus, use of inorganic fertilizers conjointly with bio-fertilizers and organic manures resulted in excellent vegetative growth and flower yield attributes in African marigold.

TL;DR: There is, I think, something ethereal about i —the square root of minus one, which seems an odd beast at that time—an intruder hovering on the edge of reality.
Abstract: There is, I think, something ethereal about i —the square root of minus one. I remember first hearing about it at school. It seemed an odd beast at that time—an intruder hovering on the edge of reality. Usually familiarity dulls this sense of the bizarre, but in the case of i it was the reverse: over the years the sense of its surreal nature intensified. It seemed that it was impossible to write mathematics that described the real world in …

TL;DR: SPAdes as mentioned in this paper is a new assembler for both single-cell and standard (multicell) assembly, and demonstrate that it improves on the recently released E+V-SC assembler and on popular assemblers Velvet and SoapDeNovo (for multicell data).
Abstract: The lion's share of bacteria in various environments cannot be cloned in the laboratory and thus cannot be sequenced using existing technologies. A major goal of single-cell genomics is to complement gene-centric metagenomic data with whole-genome assemblies of uncultivated organisms. Assembly of single-cell data is challenging because of highly non-uniform read coverage as well as elevated levels of sequencing errors and chimeric reads. We describe SPAdes, a new assembler for both single-cell and standard (multicell) assembly, and demonstrate that it improves on the recently released E+V-SC assembler (specialized for single-cell data) and on popular assemblers Velvet and SoapDeNovo (for multicell data). SPAdes generates single-cell assemblies, providing information about genomes of uncultivatable bacteria that vastly exceeds what may be obtained via traditional metagenomics studies. SPAdes is available online ( http://bioinf.spbau.ru/spades ). It is distributed as open source software.
