Journal ArticleDOI

Egg yolk α-livetin (chicken serum albumin) is a cross-reactive allergen in the bird-egg syndrome

TL;DR: It is assumed that α-livetin (chicken serum albumin) leads to a cross-sensitization and consequently to the "bird-egg syndrome," as common epitopes of budgerigar and hen feather and egg yolk α- livetin are demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modulation of toll-like receptor 4 expression on human monocytes by tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-6: tumor necrosis factor evokes lipopolysaccharide hyporesponsiveness, whereas interleukin-6 enhances lipopolysaccharide activity.

TL;DR: It is concluded that not only LPS but also TNF-&agr; and IL-6 have the potency to regulate the immune response via TLR-4 and can increase the responsiveness of mononuclear phagocytes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of IgE antibodies specific for allergens in cow milk and cow dander.

TL;DR: IgE immunoblot analysis revealed that cow milk-allergic patients exhibited IgE binding to the milk allergens casein, beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lacticalbumin and bovine serum albumin, and inhibition studies revealed the cross-reactive nature of the IgE antibodies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Activated naive CD4+ peripheral blood T cells in autoimmune thyroid disease.

TL;DR: The proportion of CD19+, CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ cells among circulating lymphocytes in Graves' disease and autoimmune hypothyroidism vs healthy subjects was analyzed and it was observed that, irrespective of age, both patients with GD and those with AH had an increased percentage of the CD25+CD45RA+ (naive) subpopulation of helper cells vshealthy subjects.
