TL;DR: In this paper, a flame resistant and smoke suppressed polyvinyl chloride polymer containing from about 20 to about 100 parts per hundred resin (phr) of a plasticizer comprising an ester-type primary plasticizer in combination with a controlled amount of a chlorinated paraffin or organic phosphate ester secondary plasticizer and an effective amount of flame retardant and smoke suppressant agent comprising inorganic molybdenum compounds.
Abstract: A flame resistant and smoke suppressed plasticized polyvinyl chloride polymer containing from about 20 to about 100 parts per hundred resin (phr) of a plasticizer comprising an ester-type primary plasticizer in combination with a controlled amount of a chlorinated paraffin or organic phosphate ester secondary plasticizer and an effective amount of a flame retardant and smoke suppressant agent comprising inorganic molybdenum compounds, such as molybdenum oxides and metal molybdates. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the flame retardant and smoke suppressant agent further includes a controlled effective amount of antimony oxide in combination with the molybdenum compound imparting synergistic flame retardancy and smoke suppressing characteristics to the plasticized polyvinyl chloride resin formulation.

TL;DR: Molybdenum-based compounds are effective smoke suppressants for rigid and flexible polyvinyl chloride formulations, both unfilled and filled with calcium carbonate and alumina trihydrate as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Molybdenum-based compounds are effective smoke suppressants for rigid and flexible polyvinyl chloride formulations, both unfilled and filled with calcium carbonate and alumina trihydrate. These compounds, two of which are new compounds based on zinc molybdate with or without a phosphite synergist, are useful as is or extended onto core materials such as clay or talc. The addition of molybdenum-containing additives to flexible PVCs containing antimony trioxide usually raises the oxygen index and thus improves flame retardancy. Tests indicate that molybdenum acts as a flame and smoke suppressant in the solid phase.

TL;DR: In this paper, a thermoplastic laminate plank is described, which consists of a core, a print layer, and an overlay layer and an underlay layer can be located and affixed between the bottom surface of the print layer and the top surface of core.
Abstract: A thermoplastic laminate plank is described wherein the thermoplastic laminate plank comprises a core, a print layer, and optionally an overlay. The core comprises at least one thermoplastic material and has a top surface and bottom surface wherein a print layer is affixed to the top surface of the core and an overlay layer is affixed to the top surface of the print layer. Optionally, an underlay layer can be located and affixed between the bottom surface of the print layer and the top surface of the core. In addition, a method of making the thermoplastic laminate plank is further described which involves extruding at least one thermoplastic material into the shape of the core and affixing a laminate on the core, wherein the laminate comprises an overlay affixed to the top surface of the print layer and optionally an underlay layer affixed to the bottom surface of the print layer.
