TL;DR: In this article, information pertaining to characteristics of consumables such as metal welding electrode wire and shielding gas and which characteristics are useful in connection with adjusting welding parameters in an arc welding process and selecting between operating modes in a welding system are encoded on welding wire and/or on other memory components such as bar code labels and tags.
Abstract: Information pertaining to characteristics of consumables such as metal welding electrode wire and shielding gas and which characteristics are useful in connection with adjusting welding parameters in an arc welding process and/or selecting between operating modes in a welding system are encoded on welding wire and/or on other memory components such as bar code labels and tags, RFID cards and tags, IC cards, and Touch Memory buttons, and the memory device is scanned prior to and/or at the point of use of the welding wire or shielding gas for enabling tracking of product distribution, manual and/or automatic selection of an operating mode for the welding system, manual and/or automatic adjustment of welding parameters in a given operating mode, consumables inventory, and the like.

TL;DR: In this paper, a welding training system includes one or more welding operator devices which provide positional feedback relevant to a quality weld, and when the positional feedback is outside of a predetermined range, a signal is provided to the welding operator.
Abstract: A welding training system includes one or more welding operator device which provides positional feedback relevant to a quality weld. The positional feedback is analyzed and, when the positional feedback is outside of a predetermined range, a signal is provided to the welding operator. In one embodiment, tactile feedback is provided in a welding gun.

TL;DR: In this paper, an electronic storage device is coupled with a container capable of holding liquid for electronically storing information relating to the liquid stored in the container, and the system can be configured with an antenna for storing information to and reading information from the electronic storage devices.
Abstract: An electronic storage device is coupled with a container capable of holding liquid for electronically storing information relating to the liquid stored in the container. The system can be configured with an antenna, for storing information to and reading information from the electronic storage device. A microprocessor-based controller, coupled with the antenna, may be employed for controlling processing of the liquid based on information read from the electronic storage device by the antenna. A connector of a secure reader system having a reader is provided to physically couple to a container having an information storing mechanism, for periodically reading information from an information storing mechanism. The connector may draw material from the container simultaneous with the reading.

TL;DR: In this article, a welding tool includes a blade assembly positioned a predetermined distance from the torch nozzle holder, which is configured to cut welding wire extending through the blade assembly to calibrate wire stickout from the welding torch to the predetermined distance.
Abstract: A welding tool includes a first handle and a second handle. The welding tool also includes a torch nozzle holder configured to hold a nozzle of a welding torch therein, and to block the nozzle from extending therethrough. The welding tool includes a blade assembly positioned a predetermined distance from the torch nozzle holder. The blade assembly is configured to cut welding wire extending through the blade assembly to calibrate wire stickout from the welding torch to the predetermined distance.

TL;DR: A welding-type device has wireless communications to transmit wireless signals comprising at least identification information or location information, which may be transmitted either automatically or in response to request signals as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A welding-type device has wireless communications to transmit wireless signals comprising at least identification information or location information. The information may be transmitted either automatically or in response to request signals. Such a welding-type device may be configured to communicate with other welding-type devices, a monitoring device, or both. A wireless communication system has at least one welding-type device, at least one wireless communication assembly, and at least one monitoring device and is capable of assisting a user in locating particular welding-type devices, preventing theft of welding-type devices, and scheduling preventive maintenance.

TL;DR: In this article, a welding training system includes a position detecting system configured to detect a distance between a position detector and objects within a field of view of the position detector, and to produce a map corresponding to the objects.
Abstract: A system and device for welding training. In one example, a welding training system includes a position detecting system configured to detect a distance between the position detecting system and objects within a field of view of the position detecting system, and to produce a map corresponding to the objects. The welding training system also includes a markers configured to be coupled to a device of the welding training system. Furthermore, the markers are configured to be detected by the position detecting system.
