Journal ArticleDOI

Adult height and cause-specific mortality: a large prospective study of South Korean men.

TL;DR: There was little evidence of associations for coronary heart disease or overall cancer mortality, but stomach cancer showed a weak inverse association that was attenuated after adjustment and strong inverse associations with death from stroke, respiratory disease, and external causes were observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic epidemiology and Mendelian randomization for informing disease therapeutics: Conceptual and methodological challenges.

TL;DR: It is suggested that GWAS, to date, have generally not focused on phenotypes that directly relate to the progression of disease and thus speak to disease treatment, and this has yet to be realized at a level reflecting expectation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Early results of autologous chondrocyte implantation in the talus.

TL;DR: Ten patients with an osteochondral lesion of the talus who underwent ACI using cartilage taken from the knee and were prospectively reviewed with a mean follow-up of 23 months report good results despite donor-site morbidity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Is there an intrauterine influence on obesity? Evidence from parent–child associations in the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC)

TL;DR: Comparison of mother–offspring and father-offspring associations for BMI suggests that intergenerational acceleration mechanisms do not make an important contribution to levels of childhood BMI within the population.
