Rectification in Tunneling Junctions: 2,2′-Bipyridyl-Terminated n-Alkanethiolates
Hyo Jae Yoon,Kung-Ching Liao,Matthew R. Lockett,Sen Wai Kwok,Mostafa Baghbanzadeh,George M. Whitesides +5 more
TL;DR: A structural and mechanistic hypothesis that suggests a partial rationalization of values of rectification available in the literature is described, which is important because rectification occurs at a polarity opposite to that of the analogous but much more extensively studied systems based on ferrocene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Odd–Even Effects in Charge Transport across n-Alkanethiolate-Based SAMs
Mostafa Baghbanzadeh,Felice C. Simeone,Carleen M. Bowers,Kung-Ching Liao,Martin M. Thuo,Mahdi Baghbanzadeh,Michael S. Miller,Tricia Breen Carmichael,George M. Whitesides,George M. Whitesides +9 more
TL;DR: A comparison of electrical characteristics across junctions of n-alkanethiolate SAMs on gold and silver electrodes yields indistinguishable values of β and J0 and indicates that a change that substantially alters the tilt angle of the alkyl chain has no influence on the injection current density across SAMs of n

Self-assembly of mesoscale objects
TL;DR: In this article, a self-assembling electrical circuit is provided, which can self-assemble in a fluid/fluid interface, or provided in a liquid, or in proximity of a surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reconstruction of the interface of oxidatively functionalized polyethylene and derivatives on heating
Stephen Randall Holmes-Farley,Robert H. Reamey,Ralph G. Nuzzo,Thomas J. McCarthy,George M. Whitesides +4 more
Journal ArticleDOI
The development of bioresorbable composite polymeric implants with high mechanical strength.
Upma Sharma,Danny Concagh,Lee Core,Yina Kuang,Changcheng You,Quynh Pham,Greg Zugates,Rany Busold,Stephanie Webber,Jonathan Merlo,Robert Langer,George M. Whitesides,Maria Palasis +12 more
TL;DR: A scaffold from variants of poly(glycolic) acid which were braided and coated with an elastomer of poly (glycolide-co-caprolactone) and crosslinked was developed, shown to be highly resorbable following implantation in a porcine femoral artery and biocompatible in an ovine model.
