Abstract: Closed loop EP-processing means a choice of the stimulus onset according to the the ongoing EEG activity analyzed on line. Out of many other possibilities we choose the phase of the EEG as the determining parameter for stimulation. The difference between random phase and alternating phase stimulation is pointed out, also a study of the influence of the stimulation phase on the amplitude and phase of the EEG after the alpha blocking phenomenon is performed. The differences between random stimulation and closed loop stimulation are expressed also as signal to noise ratio and give so an objective judgement about the method.
