TL;DR: First experience with a new bed-side system continuously monitoring 12 neurophysiological and clinical parameters is reported, developed to support the observation of ICU patients as well as to aid therapeutic decisions.
Abstract: Evoked potential monitoring is a standard examination method in neurological intensive therapy units. Previously, multimodality observation was only possible in follow-up examinations. First experience with a new bed-side system continuously monitoring 12 neurophysiological and clinical parameters is reported. It consists of a personal computer and various stimulation units. EEG activity, median nerve somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) and brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEPs) are recorded. Additionally, EEG spectral band power, heart rate, heart rate variability, intracranial presure, body temperature, expiratory PCO2, blood pressure and transcutaneously measured oxygenation can be monitored. This paper reports on 4 exemplary cases of the 33 patients we have monitored to date, illustrating the principles and main advantages of the system. The system was developed to support the observation of ICU patients as well as to aid therapeutic decisions. It supports the clinical determination of brain death by specifying the deterioration of various neurological systems.

TL;DR: All-night sleep recordings on infants of ages 7 weeks, 6 months and l year and methodical details concerning the calculation of the respiratory Parameters (frequency and variability) have been reported previously.
Abstract: 2. Hethods and Materials Between July 1989 and July 1991 eighty all-night sleep recordings have been performed on infants of ages 7 weeks, 6 months and l year. During eight hour periods 22 physiological Signals were sampled by a PC and stored on an optical disk. A block diagram of the data acquisition system is shown in Figure 1. The Signals recorded are listed in Table 1. Further methodical details concerning the calculation of the respiratory Parameters (frequency and variability) have been reported previously [l]. •Utrcr·«· Position

TL;DR: In the present study, breathing patterns during quiet sleep were analyzed in 53 follow-up measurements in 25 babies of ages 6 weeks, 6 months and 1 year to compare control infants with infants at risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Abstract: In the present study, breathing patterns during quiet sleep were analyzed in 53 follow-up measurements in 25 babies of ages 6 weeks, 6 months and 1 year. Using spectral analysis, respiratory parameters were computed to compare control infants with infants at risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). SIDS-risk infants show no significant difference in respiratory rate or variability in the state of quiet sleep.

TL;DR: An EMG system has been developed capable of doing an EMG analysis as well as providing diagnostic support with the aid of an integrated expert system to reduce the time of examination and to increase the reliability of the diagnosis.
Abstract: An EMG system has been developed capable of doing an EMG analysis as well as providing diagnostic support with the aid of an integrated expert system. The goal of this EMG system is to reduce the time of examination and to increase the reliability of the diagnosis. In order to obtain many parameters from the EMG signal, different analysing methods capable of running in parallel are needed. The system has been realized with a transputer network. Thus it is possible to distribute the software components to different processors with high level of efficiency. For software development we use the operating system Helios. This makes it possible to use the standard I/O environment X-Windows.
