Neoproterozoic magmatic flare-up along the N. margin of Gondwana: the Taknar complex, NE Iran

TL;DR: In this article, trace-element, isotopic and geochronological data on ∼550 Ma magmatic rocks from the Taknar complex, NE Iran, and use this information to better understand episodes of flare-up, crustal thickening and magmatic periodicity in the Cadomian arcs of Iran and Anatolia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Devonian to Permian evolution of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean: New evidence from U–Pb zircon dating and Sr–Nd–Pb isotopes of the Darrehanjir–Mashhad "ophiolites", NE Iran

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that the ~200 km long Darrehanjir-Mashhad mafic-ultramafic body is not a single ophiolite but a composite igneous complex composed of Permian pillow lavas and pelagic sediments in fault contact with a small outcrop of Devonian intrusive and ultramerafic rocks.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sabzevar Ophiolite, NE Iran: Progress from embryonic oceanic lithosphere into magmatic arc constrained by new isotopic and geochemical data

TL;DR: The Sabzevar ophiolite belt (STOB) as mentioned in this paper is a large region in NE Iran, over 400 km E-W and almost 200 km N-S, which includes harzburgite, lherzolite, dunite and chromitite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Petrogenesis and tectonic implications of Late Carboniferous A-type granites and gabbronorites in NW Iran: geochronological and geochemical constraints

TL;DR: Ghushchi granites and gabbronorites in NW Iran comprise a bimodal magmatic suite that intruded Ediacaran-Cambrian gneiss and are good representatives of carboniferous igneous activity as mentioned in this paper.
