Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental characterization of thermally-activated artificial muscles based on coiled nylon fishing lines
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the results of a thermo-mechanical characterization conducted on a specific type of twisted polymeric fiber (i.e., nylon-made coiled actuators) that is considered particularly promising.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resonant wave energy harvester based on dielectric elastomer generator
Giacomo Moretti,Gastone Pietro Rosati Papini,Michele Righi,David Forehand,David Ingram,Rocco Vertechy,Marco Fontana +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a DEG system that is able to convert the oscillating energy carried by water waves into electricity is presented, which is a promising demonstration of the operation and effectiveness of ocean wave energy converters based on elastic capacitive generators.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Review of Dielectric Elastomer Generator Systems
TL;DR: In this article, the recent advances on DEGSs are reviewed and illustrated in terms of design of hardware architectures, power electronics, and control, with reference to the different application targets, including large-scale systems such as ocean wave energy converters, and small-scale system such as human motion or ambient vibration energy harvesters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parallelogram-shaped dielectric elastomer generators: Analytical model and experimental validation
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel concept of parallelogram-shaped dielectric elastomer generator is presented and analyzed, and an analytical model for the electro-hyperelastic response of the generator is described and used to assess the maximum theoretical performances.
